This past year, I have resolved to start taking better care of my skin. My love affair with cosmetics has taken a back seat, and now skincare has slowly become a top priority. The skin of a twenty-something is frustrating; I still get occasional breakouts, and I still have to deal with my oily t-zone. I also have noticed some lines forming between my eyes, and my skin seems to be more sensitive overall. I'm stuck between the remnants of a teen, and yet grasping with the fact that I'll be thirty in no time flat.  Oh, the best of both worlds ;)
Here are the products I'm currently using (and loving) to take good care of my skin's schizophrenic needs.

Cleansers
I use Cetaphil daily because it's so gentle. I use the generic CVS version of Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Wash once or twice a week, especially when my face starts feeling congested. I've used Neutrogena since I was 12, so I find it unbelievable that it still works for me now that I'm in my twenties.

Makeup Removers
Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover, Neutrogena Night Calming Face Wipes, Target generic version of L'oreal Makeup Remover

Moisturizers
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, Mac Fix +, Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

Exfoliators
Philosophy Microdelivery Mini Peel Pads and Biore Pore Unclogging Scrub. I use the pads twice a week at night, the scrub once a week.

Sun Protection
CopperTone Oil Free Sunscreen, SPF 30. It doesn't clog pores and blends right in to skin so it doesn't leave a greasy residue. This stuff is amazing! Even the boy likes it.

What do you girls love to use? I hope it works well for you! The older I get, the more I realize how important our skin is. If you have any questions on any of the products I use, ask me below!

  1. We have so many of the same products! I'm using Cetaphil cleanser, Neutrogena make-up remover wipes, the Philosophy peel pads and the Kiehl's eye creme (thanks to you and Ella) as well.

I'm also loving Kinerase, it does amazing things for my skin.

  3. I'm a new follower and so far am loving reading your blog! I've been using Jan Marini products for years. Yes, it's expensive but it helped tame my horrible acne during my teen years. And oil free sunscreen ofcourse :)

Also I just finished reading "Feed Your Face" by Jessica Wu, MD. It all about how what you eat affects your skin and what to avoid eating& eat if you have acne, sun damage, wrinkles, weak nails, etc. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in keeping their skin looking great! It's a good read too! :)

  5. Becca: Welcome! Thank you for reading, I always look forward to new readers.I've heard about that book, and it is highly recommended by so many people! I will definitely look into it at Barnes & Noble, thank you =)

Just another shopoholic: I've used these wipes on and off for about a year, but I always go back to them. They smell so good and really do remove all of my makeup easily. The Biore scrub is nice, it sort of tingles and feels cool on the face. I think once a week is good enough for use!

  6. I'm kind of obsessive with my skin - mainly due to my lifelong battle with eczema. I've never really had acne (save 1 yr in college) and all of the sudden this year I'm breaking out all over! I got a Clairisonic (which I am now addicted to). That's my latest fave. When my skin gets schizo I always revert back to my trusted Shisheido The Skincare line of products. I also love those Philosopy Microdelivery peel pads and the L'oreal Skin Genesis line. Tending to your face is something that falls well under "an ounce of prevention equals a pound of cure" realm!

  9. It's always so interesting to see what products people use, so thanks for sharing :)

I LOVE the Olay Pro-X cleansing brush (it's like the Clarisonic, but more affordable). I've noticed my blackheads going away since I started using it over a month ago.

I use general baby wipes to take off my make up on lazy nights. I'm not big into fancy/expensive skin care--I feel like the less expensive stuff works just as well!

  10. Love reading these! I use the Ceptaphil soap as I find it is better at cleaning my skin (the liquid cleanser is too mild for me and would always leave make-up behind).

I use the Bioderma/Crealine Make-up remover (so glad they sell it here in Canada - it really is the most effective make-up remover I've used - yet it never stings - it's amazing!

I love my Clarisonic - I use it every night - I think it really helps keep my pores clean - and it is supposed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles...so that would be great, but who knows if it's true.

    We're eye cream twins!

  11. I've had the best luck with Clinique's Mild Gel wash and products that target oily skin.

  12. Vivian: I didn't know you battled eczema, you have such pretty skin! It's hard to go from never having acne, to all of a sudden developing it in adulthood. Mine has gotten much better this year, but it was a constant battle last year! It sounds like you are using the right products, so I hope it improves.

Makeup, hauls, and anything under the sun: It's the perfect cleanser for any skin type! The girl that waxes my brows recommends it to all of her clients =)

V: I know, so annoying at times right?!

RAW: Oooo, I've been THIS close to buying the Olay version of a Clarisonic. I need to! So many people rave about it. I agree that skincare needs to be efficient, not expensive. Drugstore products can and do work just as well! I think I have a good balance ;)

Ella: really, the soap is better? I'll have to try that. I know my boyfriend would love the bar soap because he's a total guy like that ;) I'm so envious you have the Bioderma stuff there...I can't get it here!

David: Clinique is great, I love their moisturizer so much! Been using it for years. Thanks for your comment.

  13. you are speaking my language sister! I was just telling my hubs that I'm getting wrinkles under my eyes! WTH?! I have been using a french eye cream in which the name escapes me and I also have been using a lot of the La Roche Posay products...Love em and they sell them at CVS! xo

  14. oh super excited for this post noelle! I just got a sample of the micro delivery peel and cant wait to try it. Also was curious about the Mac fix + do you just used it before you do your makeup?!

  15. Frankie: La Roche Posay is a brand I've been curious about! I have only seen a small selection at CVS, but have yet to pull the trigger on anything.

Andee: I hope you love the Philosophy stuff as much as I do! I want to try more things from the line because I am so pleased with the pads. They have made my skin look and feel so much smoother! I use the MAC fix + two ways: as a light misting before I apply makeup if I don't feel I need to use the Clinique moisturizer. Or, I use it to set my makeup once it's all finished. It is refreshing and smells amazing!I think it evens out the look of pores too. I highly recommend it.

  17. Jazzy E: The clinique is wonderful if you have combo to oily skin. The gel is what I use because my t zone gets so oily. If you have dry skin, I've heard that the regular lotion is great. Either way, I love Clinique!
