1.09.2012

On a trip to Sephora today, I made my first purchases of 2012. I wanted to branch out and try brands and products that I am completely unfamiliar with, and that is precisely what happened.

How's this for branching out? Highlighter neon (I mean NEON) nail polish from Illamasqua called Rare.
So excited to wear this! I'm still in love with the whole neon trend that's taken fashion and beauty by storm.

Hourglass cosmetics is a vegan line that does not contain any sulfates or parabens in their products. That drew me in, but the sleek packaging and elegant design also won me over. This is a lip stain in the color Petal, a soft peachy pink. So far, so good. I want to try more from the line in the future.

I also am loving this present I received from my best friend.
MAC lipglass in Check This Out.
Not sure if it is limited edition because I've been avoiding those collections like the plague but this is a very natural, glowy gloss. It reminds me of the infamous Love Nectar that is said to be a prime choice for brides on their wedding day. I actually like this color better.

There's nothing quite as satisfying as a good beauty binge is there?

  1. I've been eyeing that nail polish but I wonder how evenly and opaquely it applies. Let us know!

  2. M and Just Another Shopaholic: I will absolutely report back on the polish! It better be opaque, otherwise it's going back!

  4. Ummm I LOVE that neon yellow polish! So pretty! Have you seen the new neon line at Bobbi Brown! It's very in right now! :)

  5. Alison elle: I will do swatches very soon, I promise ;)

Natasha: Yes, I was very tempted by that collection today! I almost bought one of the lipsticks, but that was after my little Sephora spree so I passed. I love neon accents though, don't you? I'm just so attracted to it!

  6. The yellow polish certainly has a nice color. And the MAC lipglass has such a lovely shade.

  8. I love the yellow polish! And the lipgloss looks divine -- I'm not a big fan of glossies myself (I can't get over the "sticky" feeling of it) but even I have to admit that the color looks absolutely wonderful.

  11. Girlie Blogger: Thank you :) Very excited to paint my nails! It will have to wait until later this week (when I'm not working).

Carla: I will definitely do swatches!

Amy: I agree! I haven't bought a MAC lipglass in over a year because of the sticky factor. But this little pressie is perfect to top off all of my lipsticks. Love the color so much!

Emily: I hope it does! I don't own any neon clothes, so polish and accessories are a great option. I will be so disappointed if the polish is a bad formula!

Natasha: Thank you sweetie :) I think neon and nude (like the Bobbi Brown collection) is a great way to go. I envision myself wearing the polish with my nude madewell top and jeans, and either my bright J Crew pumps or just nude shoes. I think balance is key if you're unsure about a trend like neon.
