I always imagined that if I were to get my dream bag (my Chanel flap) that I would immediately stop dreaming about other handbags. After all, what's the need for more when you own your dream bag? But here's the thing: although I adore my Chanel, I am extremely OCD about it. I can't carry it to work with me. I can't carry it out when it's raining or even when I go out with friends for fear that someone might spill something on it. Or it might accidentally get scuffed or scratched. I don't know if it's my anxiety or my Virgo instincts kicking in, but I am very very careful with my Chanel. Too careful.

So for the past month, I've been on the hunt for a real leather bag that I can carry everyday. It had to meet certain criteria: practical and functional. Not too big nor too small. I also wanted one in a lighter color.  Spring and Summer are right around the corner, and I already own a black Chanel, so no use it getting another black bag. But most importantly, I wanted a bag that I wouldn't have to baby! If it gets scratched, fine!

So Saturday when I went shopping, I brought this home with me:

"She tucked her coral lipstick away and floated back to the party."
Kate Spade

Ta-Da!

I know. It is a total replica of the Chanel GST. I know! But I love quilted bags, and this one is so incredibly well made. The leather, although not as luxurious as my Chanel, is really beautiful quality. Soft and pillowy. And just look at the gorgeous nude color. The size is perfect for a petite girl, I don't feel at all overwhelmed by it. Plus, I feel that the price was right for such a bag.

Well done Kate Spade. I've never noticed your bags much before, but now I have!

I already put all my loot in it.

  6. Noelle - when I saw your new Kate Spade - I knew we were taste-twins because I just LOVE it so much. You couldn't have picked a prettier bag - and it's immediately gone on my wishlist :-)

I think Kate Spade do cute versions of popular bags. They have a bag that reminds me of the Miu Miu bow satchel (The cobble hill small leslie) - and I may have to buy it eventually :-)

Girlie Blogger: I actually have no idea how I put that top together with the cardigan, except I have been wearing both pieces like mad! I liked the combo though. Thank you :)

Ella: we are definitely style twins ;) I saw that satchel too, and agree its gorgeous! I really love Kate spade's aesthetic.

Veronika: I love your marc Jacobs pink hobo! But one can never have too many designer bags ;)

  10. it's so pretty!!!! i love it!! truthfully i don't really baby my black chanels.. but i think if i had a LIGHT colored beige chanel i would be so paranoid and scared.. so i think it's actually really wise that you went with a kate spade.. it's a good substitute but nowhere as painful if you got it dirty.. but i do think the shape is quite cute infact i think it's cuter then the GST.. the hubby gifted me with a GST a few years ago but i sold it because it was WAY WAY WAY too bulky.. i think the kate spade version is much prettier and more feminine!!

  11. Love the orange with the sparkle, how festive! I know what you mean about babying your bags. I baby my Marc Jacobs quilted leather, I can't imagine how paranoid I would be with a Chanel! Your new nude KS bag is perfect :)

  12. I'm the same way with my Chanel bags and really expensive shoes - it's like I want to preserve how perfect they are :) Its nice to have some less expensive options and this is such a great neutral color - especially perfect for Spring/Summer!

  13. Kristin: thank you sweetie.

Lisa: thank you girly! I sometimes think of you when I carry my Chanel ;) I agree that the Kate spade is less bulky which is great when your a shortie like me!

Andi: I guess its normal to baby handbags that cost a pretty penny! I wish I didn't have to, but I want it in great condition.

Elle: thank you, I wish it were already spring!

  18. So pretty and so perfect for everyday use! Come to think of it, I think of Kate Spade as an everyday type of bag that is still chic and classic. And I ADORE quilted bags also! I have a Marc Jacobs quilted bag that has seen better days but I can't part with it because I just love it.
