NYX butter gloss in Sugar Cookie

I almost named this post "50 shades of grey" for obvious reasons. However, even though my mother-in-law recommended the book (insert jokes here), and I still have it sitting in a box somewhere up in my closet, I couldn't for the life of me get through that damn thing. I wanted to like it, I really did. But I found the writing to be so lackluster that I couldn't bring myself to get past page 50. Am I the only woman who didn't get it?

Anyway, I digress.

In other news, I am still using any hot days as an excuse to pull out my maxi dresses. This one was recently added, and I completely forgot to include it in my last post. I do love the shape and light-weight fabric. It's very forgiving in certain areas! My only gripe is that it's grey, and not in some bright, tropical color or print. Still looking for one of those! In my never ending quest to dress like I'm still back in Hawaii, I am going to try my best to wear clothing I would pack for a getaway so I can always feel like I'm on vacation. Clever, right?!

  1. Ha! I love your philosophy on how to always feel like you're on vacation. Maybe I need to try that. :) Your maxi dress looks perfect for dressing up or down for any occasion, and that pink bag is just soooo cute. I didn't even try to read the book 50 Shades (so many mixed reviews on that...I'm sure you're not alone) but I made it through the movie!

  4. Thank you ladies! I hope loft comes out with more colorful maxi dresses. I love the store of course, and I love neutrals, but I'm craving more color! And as for 50 shades...well I'm happy im not alone. I kind of figured I wouldn't be!

  5. I like your idea - just dress like you are on vacation!
Maxi dresses are always nice and easy to throw on and feel more dressed up than you really are.

  6. I never even tried to read the book because my mom and my best friend both started reading it and neither one of them liked it. I still kind of want to see the movie so I can see what all the fuss is about.

    P.S. Love the maxi!

    1. I always find it funny when a sexually explicit book is recommended to me by people I wouldn't expect ;) I'm curious about the movie too, but probably won't watch it either! Just not my thing!

  7. I actually have a huge thing for charcoal grey (although I'm sure it washes me out!) so I love this maxi - and it definitely doesn't wash you out! But I also think you'd look gorgeous in a mint or coral maxi - Veronika shared some cute Target ones on her blog...I'd check them out but we no longer have a Target here (cue loud sobbing LOL!)
