I'm so glad I don't adhere to the whole "no white after Labor day" rule. Does anybody anymore? White looks just as clean and crisp in the Winter months as it does in the Summer. It's just a great canvas for any other color you might pair it with, and I especially love incorporating grey. This plaid coat has been in my closet since college, and I still feel fabulous when I put it on. After the holidays, I think a lot of us are reevaluating our wardrobes (and our budgets) so it feels satisfying to reach for older pieces that still spark joy. Don't get me wrong, I'm putting my gift cards to good use. The temptation to shop is always looming, but I'm trying my best to resist. Just don't hold me to it! I don't think I could ever stick to a shopping ban, unless I really had to. I know some of you brave ladies are though, so let me know how that's going so far.
Before I go, I have to mention this fun ring that Caryl gave to me when she was here for Christmas. It's one piece that is held together by a little chain in the back. I have nothing even remotely similar, so she did the best job picking this out for me. I love my blogging friends :)
I don't think anyone adheres to that rule expect probably some really hardcore southern grandmas but they can get away with it. I bet though they would even have to admit that a winter white outfit is perfection!

Haha my grandma is probably one of them! It is definitely an antiquated rule and I'm happy people are wearing what they want, regardless of time of year.
DeleteI agree white is a great canvas for any colour pairing. Love your plaid coat and the girly ruffles it has...
ReplyDeleteI never do no-buy as I know I won't stick to it. But I have been on low-buy since I had Sofia 3 years ago. "Things" that can be purchased just matter less since then. But I do treat myself to pieces I like here and there :)
You seem like such a great momma! I'm sure I'll be the same way when I have children. It's too expensive to shop for everybody in the family! It's still nice to treat yourself though :) I hope you do!
DeleteThat ring really is so cool! As is the fact that you've had that coat from college and it's still in good condition and in style. (Although I guess we don't wear our coats a ton out here, do we?) The white after Labor Day rule is about as antiquated to me as women not having voting rights. :)

You got me Gina! I must say though, I wear coats if it's under 65 degrees! I've been wearing my coats almost daily since our cold spell. I think I just love coats so much that I'm willing to put one on at the slightest chill! I know you love white jeans and I'm glad that rule is long gone!
DeleteAnother great coat! Love the flirty ruffles. Love pieces that are not also stylish, but they also have sentimental value. Love it!

Thank you Tatiana :) I'm in love with ruffles as I have two coats with this pretty detail
DeleteLove the outfit! Perfect colors paired together!

love the details of this look and your mani and rings are just the perfect match. I'm on a light shopping ban, I've gotten a couple of things that were on MAJOR sale and that's it. I'm doing pretty good so far but that's mostly because I'm over the winter and fall stuff.

I'm so glad you like the ring! I'm wearing the one I bought for myself today also! It looks great on you, and I have MAJOR coat envy! Funny how much I adore your coat collection and yet I'm the one in the colder climate! And YES to white after Labor Day!!!

I don't think that should be a rule anymore either! I absolutely love white in winter!

I don't think anybody cares anymore! I've definitely seen a lot of "white on white" trends this winter. As long as you don't care if they get dirty from the snow or rain, I say anything goes nowadays :) You look great in this outfit!
