When I think about taking these photos, I can't help but smile and laugh! You all must know by now that Nate takes my pictures, and I wouldn't have it any other way. In the past, I've thought about hiring a pro, but number 1) I can't afford a pro 2) I wouldn't feel comfortable posing for anyone else and 3) my blog is small and I want to keep it that way.
I truly dislike being in front of the camera. Hey, before you roll your eyes and state the obvious, relax. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it's the honest truth! Even taking selfies with my best friend involves her coaxing me, a snap filter of some sort, and usually a few drinks. Because whenever I take pictures, I feel like I'm back in high school and it's prom season.
I've come a long way though, since I can now comfortably go out in public for these. But I always keep certain things in mind: What do I do with my hands? How can I make each photo look different? Am I capturing the outfit and its details properly cuz Lord knows I'm not a skinny mini model and I don't need you staring at my gut thinking "I wonder if she's pregnant yet?" For the record, I've been asked that on here before, and no I am not. I just like cheese.
This particular "shoot" I couldn't stop laughing because Nate was cracking jokes the entire time and I felt like a fool wearing the faux fur stole. I do like it, and I really think it'll look beautiful tucked into one of my trench coats. But it's definitely not something I'd normally wear, and I kept taking it on and off, trying to decide if it was going to translate well in photos. I think it does, but I'll leave you to decide...
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
such a good way to jazz up any outfit! and you look beautiful in front of the camera, even if it isn't the most comfortable thing!

I've been debating a fur scarf because they look so cozy and really glam up an outfit! Love the way it looks with your sweater!
ReplyDeleteNate does a great job with your pictures and obviously you know I'm with you on the photography issues. If only blogging outfits weren't so darn visual! Oh well. The faux fur scarf really is so pretty and glam. This is definitely the perfect time of year for that kind of accessory!

Looks great! I like the genuine smile.
ReplyDeleteI love the genuine smile and I think that if something isn't broken, don't try and change it. There's something super sweet that a S/O can draw out of you for photos that sometimes a professional can't.
