I don't know about some of you girls, but I will never get used to having my picture taken. I've been blogging for about four years now, and up until I moved into our condo this past January, I was very happy and comfortable with taking pictures of myself in a full length mirror. You could always see the entire outfit. Which is the point, right? Then we made the move and I quickly discovered that the lighting in our condo is terrible. Not one single place to put my mirror that will allow for good picture taking. I think I actually cried when I realized that I might not be able to blog about my outfits anymore. My fiancĂ© told me I was being silly, and that he would take the reins as my photographer. Although I'm happy with my recent photos, I still feel awkward in front of the camera. Neighbors will pass by and I'll tell Nate to put the camera away and act "normal". "Let's just pretend we're talking" I'll say! I'm sure they all think I'm strange. But I guess as long as I know that this activity is perfectly normal in the blogging world, I'll try my best to just go along with it.

  1. Love your cute top! I agree with you, taking pictures outside can be awkward...I don't really like it either!

  2. I know what you mean. I've been blogging for about 3 years now and am still not used to taking photos of "myself" =) You don't look awkward at all.

  3. Love this outfit. I've gotten used to taking pics outside. What I tell myself is if you want to succeed you have to let down your guard and not care what people think. Right now my photographer is away but taking pics is now tough because it's weird for my interim photographer. So I've just not done as many posts as I would like

  4. I agree -- I've actually stopped doing as many outfit posts because I just hate photographing myself -- so awkward! xo

  5. I think we've all had those same feelings of awkwardness during photo-ops! I just recently started taking more photos outside too so it's all still a bit strange - able one day we'll get more used to it :) Cute outfit too, by the way!

  7. Thanks for the feedback everyone! It's nice knowing we all feel a bit out of place when having someone take our blog pictures. I guess it just takes getting used to.

  11. I always wondered how bloggers felt about this! They take such pretty pictures, but it always seems like it's by random houses or in public places like parks, streets, etc. Don't the homeowners ever come out and ask what they're doing??

    1. I think the high-end bloggers have professional photographers taking their pictures, and many of them live in busy cities where that kind of thing happens everyday! I also think others are just very confident, and so it doesn't bother them. Or, some like myself just fake it a little ;)

  13. I always take mirror pictures too for that very same reason. I feel so awkward in front of a camera and so uncomfortable at the thought of passerby's or neighbors seeing me. I'm not sure how to overcome it either. I give credit to all of those bloggers who take photos when they're out and about and especially to the vloggers- I could never do that, far too shy!

    1. I think whatever works for you is best :) I never thought I could do it either, but I guess standing outside by our condo isn't that bad. At least I'm close to home!

  15. I KNOW! I do not like it. That is why you do not see many posing pix of me on my blog. Maybe one day I will get use to it. You look great btw.

  18. Ha! I'm totally the same way about photographing my outfits! My husband is also my photographer and when he has to travel for work, I have to resort to taking photos in our office gym bc the lighting is the best there and in our house, it sucks! And I can totally relate to feeling like a crazy person if neighbors are outside!
Anyway - you look great and I love how you accessorized this outfit, down to your shoes!
