Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way, shall we? I live in southern California as you all probably know, and while I love it here, I really do wish that we could experience Fall properly like most of you do. I keep joking with all of my friends that Fall is a mythical term here, because it really doesn't exist. I do however like to pretend that I know what I'm talking about. It may not be cooling off anytime soon, but I try to incorporate as much Fall as I can by changing up my accessories and beauty products to reflect the new season.

I've asked my blogger friends from different areas of the country (and Canada) to compile their personal "must-haves" lists for Fall, but I will begin today by sharing mine. I am lumping mine into two categories, style and beauty. My list doesn't change much from year to year, but it's fun to reflect anyway. All of these are classically Fall, with one trendy piece thrown in.

1. A jewel toned bag

2. Light-weight cardigans

3. The cape

4. Vamp nails

5. Red & wine lips

If you have any questions on specific products shown, feel free to ask! I decided not to describe why I chose these because I think they are fairly obvious and speak for themselves.

The second portion of this post will be up on Monday, and I can't wait to read how my list compares with my blogger friends.

Last year, I was casually flipping through the channels and stumbled across The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (Okay, who am I kidding? It's a total guilty pleasure and I'm a huge fan of the series). Don't judge! It's one of the only "reality" television shows I can stomach these days, and although the drama seems contrived, I mainly tune in each season for the fashion. I love Kyle Richard's style in particular. She looks flawless, and yet she seems more down-to-earth than some of the other ladies. I immediately fell in love with a cape blazer she wore in one of the episodes. While most people were probably glued to the t.v. watching Lisa Rinna throw a wine glass at Kim Richards, I was eyeing Kyle's beautiful cape and plotting how I could get my hands on a less expensive option. I think I literally sent my friend a text during the scene because I wanted one so badly. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, and stopping by Zara where I shrieked like a little girl when I saw one. I'm sure Kyle's cost a slight fortune, but mine was a bit more budget-friendly, although still more than I had anticipated. I used my birthday as an excuse to treat myself.

What do you think of this trend?

Happy October everyone! This is probably everybody's favorite month. Am I right? At least that's what I keep seeing on Pinterest and Instagram. I am in complete agreement. The promise of cooler weather is always a welcomed one!

Here are some random odds and ends on my beginning to Fall so far...

1. Shoes. I've gone a little crazy with them! I keep adding more to my closet, and I keep wanting more. Case in point:

These two are next on my list, but I can't decide which I like better. Thoughts?

2. Wearing basic items again and again. I'm sure you ladies have noticed these! As hard as I try to rotate all of the pieces in my wardrobe, I can't help but come back to what's easy, flattering, and obviously that I love.

White Topshop skirt, Blue bag, Metallic pumps.
I can't stop, and probably won't stop wearing them through Fall.

Express Barcelona camisoles in white and black.
Great basic! They are made Fall-worthy by wearing a blazer or jacket on top. I can't recommend them enough.

3. I wanted to report back on some recent beauty purchases, as seen here:

* The Maybelline palette is good, but I wouldn't say it's anything too special. The colors are neutral, which makes them extremely easy to work with. The color payoff on most of them is decent, with the exception of the lighter shades. They come across as a bit chalky. Overall, if you already own plenty of similar shades from other brands, you don't need this. Common sense alerted me to that before buying it, but I wanted to try it for myself.

* The NARS dual intensity eyeshadow in Dione is gorgeous! I'm very happy with it and have been wearing it on the weekends. It glimmers and shines like no other. I like it so much that I want more, which is always a good sign (or bad for my wallet).

* The NARS illuminator is also really beautiful. I've been mixing it with my lotion on rubbing it on my arms and legs for a subtle sheen. I also dab a tiny bit on my cheekbones, then top with a powder highlight to set it. Again, a stunning product that's definitely worth treating yourself.

4. Nettie is keeping me on my toes, but I love her so much!

How has the beginning of Fall been for you?

A sleeveless trench. A sleeveless trench? Hmmmmmm. I couldn't quite wrap my brain around that for awhile, but then I started seeing this one from Ann Taylor on a lot of girls (Jean and Khatu are just two examples) and it suddenly just clicked for me. A sleeveless trench coat is genius. It's the perfect transitional piece, especially when you live in California and it stays fairly warm year-round. I like to think of this as a longer vest, so it's perfect for layering over anything! It can also be worn as a dress, though I probably won't do that often. It's just as chic as a regular trench coat which I love, but it adds a fun twist on the classic style. During Ann Taylor's F&F sale, I snapped it up for less than 100 dollars. I immediately threw it on once I received it and fell hard guys. Oh and you can still tell that I'm obsessed with my blue Kate Spade and will carry it well into Fall and Winter. The color is surprisingly versatile!

Happy Monday!

Now that Fall is coming to end, I want to share my lookbook for the season. I know most of you have already been experiencing Winter weather for awhile, but it's just now been cold enough here in southern California to really make people feel like Winter is around the corner. And when I say now, I literally mean now. I just checked the temps for next week and it's going to get back up into the 70's! Hardly Wintertime.

Fall trends are my absolute favorite so I hope you enjoy these outfits! Most can be layered with coats, tights, and boots to transition into Winter. My first lookbook (Summer) can be found here.

Unlike Summer where I was all about color, Fall has been more neutral. I have been reaching for black a lot, and that's something I never thought I'd do again after gravitating toward color the past couple of years. I'm sure once Spring hits, that will change. The beauty of fashion is that you can reinvent yourself every day. For now though, I think I'll stick to jewel tones, sparkle, black and gold, and of course...my favorite pumps!

What did you wear a lot this season?

Wearing: Loft trench (last Fall, similar here)Express leggings, Ivanka Trump flats, Michael Kors Selma bag, Essie polish in "Cocktail Bling"

This adorable striped trench coat is by far one of the best purchases I've ever made. I wore it to death all of last Fall and Winter, and I expect the same thing to happen this season. We went to the beach Friday night, and it was definitely chilly. The sweater leggings from Express kept me warm too! They are pretty thick, not flimsy like your typical pair. I recommend them for cozy, comfy nights. Lately, I find myself reaching for simple pieces that don't require much thought. You can never go wrong with a classic trench, a structured bag, and lady-like flats.

Wearing: Loft sweater, Loft skirt, H&M scarf, BCBG bag, TJMaxx bracelet, Halogen booties, Chanel Graphite polish

I wore my favorite Fall pieces out to dinner Friday night. I can't stress enough how comfortable these Halogen booties are! I was worried they would pinch my toes, but instead I felt like they actually molded to my feet and were extremely easy to walk in. I purchased them during the Nordstrom anniversary sale over Summer, and now that the weather has cooled down a bit here in California, I can finally wear them. I know I'll be reaching for them often.
Let's see...jewel tones, check! Leopard print, check! Fun new shoes, check! I love wearing all of my Fall favorites together.

How was your weekend?

Lady-like chic

Incorporating Fall's "IT" color into my wardrobe. I would love this AW bag, but I'm thinking a simple blouse or sweater will do the trick.

Could Olivia Palermo be any more perfect?

It started with this necklace...

Now I'm anticipating this bracelet by one of my favorite Etsy shops, Oia Jules

Wedding Planning, but going step by step instead of haphazardly. I bought a wedding planner/binder complete with blank pages to take notes and slots to keep business cards etc. It instructs you on what to do each month until the big day. It's a life saver.

Cooler weather, pretty colors, pumpkin spice, candles...Enjoying the season!
