You girls know how obsessed I am with the Express portofino shirts (as evidenced here, here, and here). When I saw that Express came out with a dress version, I had to snag one! Not only is it comfortable and versatile, but it's also in one of my favorite colors of the Summer season. Royal blue will transition seamlessly into Fall. I was even inspired by a layout in the newest InStyle:

Jewel tones are my favorite part about dressing in the Fall, and dark blues look stunning with black and white.

Are you loving this shade of blue as much as I am?

Just a quick post for today! I wanted to show you girls some new shoes I got from Nordstrom last week. The booties were part of the anniversary sale, while the strappy heels (although a good price already) were not. A pair for Summer, and a pair for Fall. Both equally cute!

While we are on the topic of shoes, here are a few more pairs that look enticing:

Have a great weekend!

Happy April everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter yesterday! Question of the month: How would you describe your own personal style? How has it evolved over the years?

This question comes from myself as well as Alison, and it has definitely taken some thought!

I would describe my personal style as practical and comfortable above anything else. I love getting dressed up and feeling glamourous, but I think everyone has their own definition of what glamour looks like. I love the classics - a great fitting pair of jeans that can transition from day to night, a little tweed jacket to throw on over everything, a great pair of shiny black pumps that look smart in any situation. Versatility is key in my wardobe. I also value looking put-together and timeless. I love following a trend just as much as the next girl, but I don't ever want to look back on a picture when I'm older and think, "God, who was I trying to be?" I don't ever want to feel like I'm getting dressed for someone else. I like neutrals with splashes of color. I love wearing basic pieces and then adding accessories to really complete a look. I love looking feminine, and I don't feel the need to "edge" things up (although I do love that sort of tough-girl look on others). I think I just know myself these days. My style has evolved in the sense that I know more about what I like and what I don't like. Fitting in was a huge part of my style when I was younger. I just wanted to look like everyone else, to blend in with the crowd. I've always loved fashion, and that's something I get from my mom. But I was always very confused about what looked "good" on me. Being petite at 5'2 and having some curves is difficult. It took me a long time to realize that my body is fine just the way it is, and a tailor can take care of a lot of it! I know this is something I still struggle with as a woman. But I do believe that essentially, even if and when my body changes throughout life, my personal sense of style will still remain. I'll still always gravitate towards the classic, lady-like look. I'm pretty sure that Coco Chanel will always be my icon :)

Here are some looks that sum up my style:

Now that we are all moved in, I thought I'd share my closet! Please keep in mind that I'm new to the condo/apartment life! I'm still trying to figure out where I want everything to go, and I'm doing my very best to utilize the closet I have now, and not the closet of my future dreams. Space is limited so organization and neatness are a must. Otherwise, my wardrobe won't be functional, and that's really the most important part of getting dressed every day.

I like to keep my favorite pieces or outfits that I'm planning on wearing within the next few days, front and center! That way, they are easy to find and I can use part of my closet bar to essentially "style" a look. I still have my rolling clothing rack, but I've honestly been using the bar in my closet a bit more. Both are great tools for me.

I have shoe dividers (purchased from Target about two years ago). They are a very durable plastic, and are easy to put together or disassemble. My shoe collection is quite basic, and I truly love to keep it that way. I'm sure you shoe addicts are cringing! I have a couple pairs of fun heels (like my raspberry J.Crew pumps) but I have spent my early adult years trying to build a decent shoe collection that will stand the test of time.

I think every woman should have:
* Classic pumps in black and nude.
* Comfortable ballet flats. Stick to neutrals, but play with embellishments.
* A pair of flat boots, and a more feminine pair (heeled or wedges). Rain boots are always important if you live in cold, wet climates.
* A couple "fun" pairs that can elevate your outfit! Bright colors, bows, sequins, studs, glitter. They can be heels or flats, but make sure they are showstoppers.
* I live in California, so obviously I think everyone needs a pair of flip-flops and strappy sandals.

I have shelving that runs along the top of the closet. At first I wasn't sure how to use it, but I think my bags (also front and center) are perfect to store on a shelf. I must confess that I'm a total bag lady, and if left to my own devices, I would have an obnoxiously large collection. However, I also prefer to go for quality these days instead of quantity, so the bags that I amassed in my teens and early twenties are now completely gone. I have a few clutches, my RM crossbody, a nude shoulder bag by Kate Spade and of course, my dream bag (safely tucked away in her Chanel box in the corner). My next purchase? A structured satchel as well as a tote, not necessarily in that order.

My future mother in-law gave me these scarf hangers for Christmas, and I really find them useful. I like hanging them instead of keeping them folded. It's a great space saver too.

This is the one area of my closet that I really don't like, and if you have any tips I'd be grateful! These are little storage containers that I found at Target a few months ago. I love the compartments and I definitely love the color, but I just don't have the room for them. Currently sitting on shelves, they work because I can easily access everything, but I'm more into the idea of getting a big jewelry box instead.

One thing I've really learned over the years: Get rid of junk! If you haven't worn something in months, give it away. Re-evaluate your wardrobe every single month, and toss anything that you don't love anymore. Keep track of what you are lacking in your closet so that you don't buy more of what you don't need. As a fashion/beauty blogger, this is one of those cases of "do as I say, not as I do"... Think streamlined!

Any tips or tricks for your closet that you'd like to share?

With the holidays comes lots of parties! December may possibly be the most elegant month of the year. There's nothing I love more then getting all glammed up for a fun night out. I tend to gravitate towards texture, metallics, deep jewel tones, embellishments, and of course, plenty of sparkle! This is the best time to go all out and wear something completely fabulous. No need to be shy or play it safe. Let your inner glam girl shine through :)

I'm already thinking about my New Years Eve look, and I know one thing for certain: My gold sequin Zara skirt will be the key piece! I was playing around on Polyvore and this little outfit seems like a great option. If only I owned the CL's!

Every September, I look forward to New York Fashion Week. Of course, I'd love to be there! I've strongly considered attending the blogger conferences, but with my job schedule and money constraints, it just hasn't happened. Yet.
The next best thing is pouring over all of the beautiful photos and downloading the videos from each show. Here are some of my favorite looks this year.
