I'm a neutral girl at heart. I don't think I ever wore much color back in high school or college, unless it came in the form of a pretty party dress from Express. I remember going to Las Vegas a few years ago with my best friend. I wore a beautiful bright green chiffon dress. I felt like a million dollars in it. Then I gave it away, and for what justifiable reason I don't know. I miss it! I wish it was still in my possession. Anyway, that's about as colorful as I ever got. Today, I'm much less afraid of color. It really lifts my mood and I think it warms up my complexion. On days when I'm feeling dull, I like to throw on some splashes of color and pepper it into an otherwise neutral palette. I've even changed up my makeup. I was always known for a natural, pinky - nude lip. Now I prefer reds, hot pinks, and plums. I like to see my world in color these days, and not in shades of grey.

I love shades of purple and plum for Fall and Winter. Jewel tones are the richest and most regal of shades, and I think they complement darker hair more then pastels do. Even my makeup lately reflects my love for all things plum. This tweed jacket from the Nordstrom anniversary sale finally got to see the light of day. I love tweed, it always reminds me of Coco Chanel. So lady-like and polished. I doubt she would have worn a tweed jacket with skinny jeans, but I guess that's what makes it feel modern today. You can't go wrong with throwing a little jacket over everything! Not only does it make an outfit look a bit more put-together, but it also cinches in the waist for a slimming effect.

Dress - H&M (similar, similar,) Flats - Steve Madden via Ross (similar), Bag - Chanel, Necklace - Stella & Dot, Watch - Fossil, Bracelets - Oia Jules & Stella & Dot

Just when I'm praising the rain gods for cooler weather, I'm taunted by more heat! I wanted so badly to wear THIS last weekend! I still am dying to pull out my loft trench! It'll just have to wait.

Alas, I went with something a bit more appropriate for the bi-polar weather. I still adore this little snake print dress. It's short yes, but not so short that I feel uncomfortable. That's the one good advantage of being 5'2. A tunic on a taller girl is most definitely suitable as a dress for me. The bronzey print paired nicely with burgundy flats and gold jewelry. I would love to find more long-sleeved dresses like this one because they are so versatile. You don't have to worry about exposing too much skin because your top half is already covered. Pair them with tights and your legs won't freeze! A great trench or pea coat would look perfect too.

Don't forget to enter my INPINK giveaway! You have until midnight Monday!
