When all else fails, wear black. I don't really adhere to this rule, as I've noticed that I don't own a lot of black anymore. I'm proud of this fact, because up until a few months ago, I wasn't too into color. Black feels safe. Head to toe black? I'm bullet proof! Ok, not really. But I definitely felt very relaxed in this look. I didn't want to feel fussy, so I kept the blouse loose, flowy, and untucked. I think the question, "To tuck blouse in or not?" is one I ask myself now all the time. I think the answer to that is...that it depends. Tucking a top or blouse into your skirt or pants looks more polished, more formal, and more intentional. However, leaving a blousey top untucked looks more relaxed, like you aren't trying too hard. I often do this when I wear a super tight skirt or with my skinny jeans. The proportion looks (and feels) better because you have a looser top and are tighter on the bottom half. I know a lot of girls who follow this guideline as well. On this night, I do think the blouse would have looked better had I tucked it in, but like I said before, I just didn't feel like it. Thus, the more casual approach.
What do you girls think?

So true! I always feel the need to loosen up on top with more form fitting bottoms..I would have gone with tucking the shirt into your skirt, but that's fashion, right? You take risks and find out what works for you..and it sure is fun figuring it all out! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI completely agree! I think tucking the shirt in is definitely more dressier, but leaving it out depends, I guess it really depends on the shirt. If I have a looser fit top I like to tuck it in, sometimes just the front of the shirt, if it's tight I like to leave it out.
ReplyDeleteI love tucking a shirt in. It totally makes the outfit look more dressy. You look just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely agree with you! I also sometimes to the half-tuck, which I also think works the casual, care-free but somehow intentionally stylish look well.

I agree - I tuck my shirts in for work generally, but otherwise I like blouses untucked! You look great!
ReplyDeleteI like it untucked!! It gives it a more relaxed feel! You look gorgeous, as always! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback girls! I can see that some of you really enjoy tucking tops in, and others don't. I like variety, so I say we do both ;) For instance, I'm going to a party this weekend and I'm pretty sure my outfit will call for a tucked in blouse. I do agree it looks a bit dressier that way, especially if your bottom half isn't tight.
ReplyDeleteThe blouse looks cute untucked...I also often find myself with the same dilemma!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried the half-tucked (only the front part) look?
ReplyDeleteI have, but it never looks right on me! I don't know why, I see so many girls pulling it off well. Maybe my tuck is off, lol ;) I'll try again!
DeleteI can never figure out the perfect tuck! lol. But you look wonderful as always!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm a little rusty too, no worries. We do what we can!
Deleteyou know how I feel about black, LOL ...still love it though I'm venturing out!
ReplyDeletei like to tuck in my shirts :)
I'm inclined to say tuck, but I think it looks adorable as you've styled it too!
