Today is my 32nd birthday. 32 years of eating, sleeping, breathing, walking, talking. I never paid much attention to my birthday when I was younger. Strange isn't it? Usually it's the other way around. People tend to forget their age as they get older, but if anything, I'm more aware of my age now that I am getting older. I guess it has something to do with still feeling like I don't have my shit together. In my twenties, I imagined that I would have a high paying job or career, with two kids, a husband, and a dog. Well I have the husband and the dog. But no kiddos yet. Thankfully as far as we know, it's by choice. We will see if that changes in the next few months...

So with some reluctance, I've made it to 32. And I've come to the realization that this is where I am right now in life, and that although I still have a long way to go in my quest for actually feeling like a full-blown adult, I'm getting closer. We don't realize how far we've come until we really let ourselves stop and take a good look back at where we once were. Life goes by so quickly, that if you constantly dwell on what you don't have, you'll miss the things you do. So today, I'm letting myself be in the moment. Right now. Time will only tell what the future holds but there is no use in worrying.

By the way, I want to say a big thank you for all the wonderful comments I received on my life update. Not only was I overwhelmed by your kindness and support, but I have also tapped into the writer side of myself again, and I would like to sprinkle in more of those posts along with the usual fare. I hope you'll continue to follow along. This community has been so amazing over the years, and your love is absolutely noted :)

  5. Happy birthday!!!! I'm wiser now but otherwise still feel younger than ever. I wish I knew now what I did then. I may have enjoyed my younger years more but you're right in that we should embrace the present!!! And I'm embracing you and thankful to have crossed blog paths with you! Happy birthday!!!

  6. Happy birthday beauty! Just went and read your life update. I am proud of you for sharing and for taking a step. I only worked at an inner city high school for one year before things changed for me. I know I would have ended up burned out. It's so scary to leave and make a decision for something else. I know you have helped so many, and I am excited to see where you go next! You look beautiful!

    1. Thank you Amy Ann, that means a lot to me because I wasn't sure how people would respond to me quitting a job but it's been very positive. It needed to happen!

  7. Happy Birthday Noelle!! I loved your thoughts today on appreciating the present and focusing on what you DO have. It's truly the best path to happiness, as difficult as it may be at times to maintain that focus! So glad you'll continue writing and sharing of yourself with us! And blue is definitely your color. :)

  8. Happy birthday beautiful lady. Hope you have a wonderful one with your husband and pup. And wise too - don't worry about what you don't have and focus on what you do. Most important than everything, you have a beautiful soul. Other things you can acquire overtime ;)

  10. Happy birthday! I know how you feel about coming to the realization that when we were 18 and thought about being in our 30s, we imagined we'd have it all figured out. The career, the house, the husband, the dog, the kids. At least you are right to step back and be thankful for what you have. I hope you had fun celebrating and have a year that takes you in the direction you want to go in.

    1. Thank you, I think it's a myth that by the time you're 30, life is all worked out and everything is great. We are always learning new things about ourselves and growing. I have an inclination to be hard on myself, and I shouldn't be. It's all a process!
