I'm attracted to shades of grey, I always have been. I have a difficult time making a judgement because nothing has ever been black or white for me. This drives the people in my life crazy. Make a choice, pick a side!  It's not that easy, and I admire others who have very strong convictions. It can be something totally trivial, like what restaurant to dine in. Or something on a larger scale like career, marriage, or family. It's all grey matter to me, a shrug of the shoulders, no compass to point me in a straight direction. I just don't know.

I want to feel passionate about something, a dose of red, if you will. But so far, I'm still living in shades of grey, still questioning and analyzing every move I make.

Nate and I are going on a little road trip to Joshua Tree this weekend, and I'm looking forward to getting away and exploring nature. Whenever I feel foggy, I enjoy the open road and having a little adventure. It's a great way to clear the head! I'm hoping to do a re-cap of our experience next week.

Are you a decisive person? If so, any tips on how I can become more comfortable with making choices?

  1. so fun I'm jelly of your weekend gateway I so need one. I am very decisive, not sure I have tips but I know this. Whenever I've doubted myself or let somebody influence me that's when I've made mistakes. I always say if I listened to that inner voice I would pretty much have a perfect lol. So you have to practice listening to your inner voice, because when you don't eventually you stop hearing it. when you do it becomes louder and easier to follow. Whenever I want to decide on anything, I always ask myself, am I comfortable with?

  2. I love Rachelle's tips and totally agree! For me being decisive and taking risks (a lot of times the two are related) is a muscle that I've built and strengthened with practice. You make a decision, it's scary, but you just go for it. And you find that most of the time (unless we're talking about stuff like major financial purchases you can't afford), nothing really bad happens, even if you look back and think "I wish I had made a different choice." Then you've learned something, and that's not so bad. :)
On an outfit note, loving all the pieces in this look and your picture perfect mani!

  3. Your weekend getaway sounds like so much fun and I hope it has restorative benefits. I love charcoal grey but I feel like it drains me! With regards to decision making, I do know what I like with certainty - but I also know that excessive choice can be overwhelming. I read that having too many options can be a bad thing (even with clothing - decision fatigue...I wrote about it) and a lot of "big thinkers" free up their mental energy by having the same food/outfits etc everyday.

    1. P.s. reading Gina and Rachelle's amazing advice....I thought I'd summarize with...When it comes to small decisions, don't worry about not having strong convictions - it's ok not to waste mental energy on trivial stuff. And with bigger decisions - I always listen to my intuition. Have you always felt indecisive or do you feel it more right now?

    2. I've always been indecisive but I feel like it's getting worse as I get older - I never expected that! I thought I'd become better at making decisions because I thought I'd be more comfortable with myself. I'm just in this point in my life where I have to really decide what I want so I feel pressured. Thank you for your advice though! I appreciate it so much :)

  4. Love those grey jeans! I bought my first pair when I was pregnant and have been hooked ever since. Perfect with your red. Enjoy the trip this weekend. Sounds like fun!

  5. Oh my. I'm pretty much a walking contradiction. Most of the time, I can't make any decisions - what to eat, what to wear, what I want to do with my life, however I'm also very opinionated and very stubborn. It's problematic.
I do however, love grey and red together.
