You guys, I know I've been slacking here. I'll spare the excuses and just say that I haven't been feeling particularly motivated. I went to see my therapist last week and we discussed why my moods have been affecting my productivity. I'm still struggling, but as always, she asked tough questions and put things into perspective so I'm determined to keep up a normal blogging schedule for my own sanity sake (and because she encouraged me to).

I feel so much more connected when I blog, and it's a part of my life that I want to continue. I hope you're still with me :)

Since I feel like I've been a stranger, I thought it would be a good time to share some life updates and join a link-up that was recommended to me. Here is a recap of current musings...

Anticipating - Nate and I are going to see The Lumineers and Vance Joy in December! You guys probably know how much we love going to shows and The Lumineers have been on my list for a couple years. I've already seen Vance Joy and he's amazing! If you ever get the chance, go! Any suggestions on what to wear? I normally dress down for shows (especially when there's a mosh pit involved) but this time I want to look more put together.

Realizing - That I need to ask for help more often and be open to receiving it. I hate relaying my problems, even to friends. I'd rather help others than help myself, and that can be pretty isolating and destructive.

Reviewing - So many good things, including this Laneige lip mask! Full thoughts coming soon, but it's safe to say that I'm obsessed and have been slapping this on every night before bed.

Following - I've cut way back on my social media footprint, mostly because I compare myself to others. That isn't exactly going to get me to my "stop thinking you suck" goals. Plus, I haven't been feeling as creative in my Instagram posting so I'm not looking around as much either. But, I still enjoy following my girls! Gina, Rachelle, Amy Ann, Carylee, to name a few.

Appreciating - Cooler weather! It finally feels like Fall here and I am so thrilled to be snuggled up in my fleece blanket as I type this. It's the little things in life, right?

Investigating - School. I was enrolled in copy editing and digital content courses at UCSD, but my certificate has yet to be completed. I'm so indecisive! It's like, pick a lane already! So I've been going back and forth about next semester and whether I want to continue my studies. I'll keep you posted, but I'm leaning towards yes. Education is never a regret.

Happy November! Linking up with Anne in Residence and A Hopeful Hood.

  1. Love this post Noelle and I love it when you blog because I love your style and voice. Do it at your own pace, may I recommend a new book to you? It's called the untethered soul by Michael singer. Happy hump day!

  2. Aw, I'm glad you can still tolerate me on social! Especially since you are now a contributor to my feed! LOL! I totally understand needing to distance yourself from it though. I sometimes have to take breaks or "post and run" so I don't get caught up scrolling and comparing. I agree with Rachelle, I love when you blog -you do have a special, unique voice unlike anyone else. I have no doubt you connect with people that otherwise wouldn't enjoy "typical" fashion blogs. This type of post is your forte so I'll keep pestering you to participate. :)

  3. Love the Luimneers - enjoy! My mood sucks when we change the clocks - ugh why?!?!

  4. "Education is never a regret" should be quote on everyone's wall. Though we need to do something about the costs these days, too many young people are getting buried in debt before they can start their lives and it's just so disheartening.

I'm not sure why learning to stop tearing yourself down is so hard. I feel like other people make it look so easy. It seems like it should be, and yet, give me 10 minutes and I'll nitpick my way to tears. I hope you can find your way to self love and build your self up. Use your gifts and appreciate them.

  5. Your "realizing" is so, so good. I don't like asking for help, so things generally build up inside me until I explode. I've really been working on asking and not feeling guilty when people do offer help. Such good lessons for everyone to learn!

  6. Ooh I'm so intrigued by the course work you mentioned - I am an editor (by way of English major), and that sounds right up my alley! And I'd love to see The Lumineers too - I bet that will be a great concert.

    Thanks for linking up!

  7. That Lumineers/Vance Joy concert sounds so fun!! I'm with you that it's easier to listen to friends' problems than to open up about our own struggles. Hope your friends rally around you in any time of need :)

  8. I love the Lumineers. That will be fun! And thank you so much for the mention. You are the sweetest. Comparison is so tough. I struggle and do it too. Social media is hard sometimes. I am glad you are still doing and having all the hard conversations when that is such real work. You're amazing Noelle!

  9. The Lumineers will be so fun to see! I am so bad about instagram, it's always the last thing on my list and I am typically at least a week behind. I just can't do it all! I am looking forward to reading your thoughts on the lip mask. It sounds really interesting!

Thank you for commenting! I read each and every one, and do my best to answer questions or return the favor on your blog.
