"Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can."

Happy first day of May! Aside from September, this is my favorite month of the year. Spring is so beautiful here and the weather is fairly temperate so it's the perfect time to get outside and take advantage before it really heats up.

I think I've talked enough about my Palm Springs weekend, but I wanted to share a couple photos of the aerial tram we took on our way home. It was our first time riding the Palm Springs aerial tram and it was such a cool experience. According to Wikipedia, it's the largest rotating tramway in the world. The elevation once you are at the top is over 8,000 ft. above sea level. You start the ride in the desert, and end up at the top of Mt. San Jacinto overlooking the Coachella Valley surrounded by forest! It's about a 12 minute ride in a cable car that's mostly enclosed, but it continually rotates as you climb the peak so the views are amazing. It's a bit of a bumpy ride, but so worth it. I highly recommend it if you're ever in the area. You can hike, camp, or just grab a drink at the restaurant and take in the spectacular views. I remember it was about 90 degrees that day in Palm Springs, but once we got to the mountain there was at least a 40 degree drop in temperature! It was incredible.

Our "car" coming down the mountain - can you spot it?!

Things I Liked in April:

We finished season 2 of Friends from College (so good) and are not-so-patiently waiting for season 3. I've recently read that people are angry with Netflix over the abrupt cancellations of some of their popular shows. If Netflix does this with Friends from College, I'll be one of them!

April had the perfect mix of sunny warm days that felt like heaven, and rainy days where I could cozy up with a blanket. It's kind of fun to be able to wear a cardigan or utility jacket one day and an airy little dress the next. I'm hoping May is the same.

I placed an order with Glossier and am loving their cloud paint and boy brow. I'm on the fence about their lash slick mascara but more on that in Friday's post.

I tried a few new recipes, mostly chicken dishes that I prepped for lunches throughout the week. If you're interested, you can follow my cooking board on Pinterest!

Things I Didn't Like in April:

I've done some commuting to San Diego for indeesource, picking up materials and parts. I've enjoyed it, but my God I don't miss all the driving I've had to do over the years. The Temecula area is a total commuter town, most of us have had to do it at some point. I commuted to junior college and then to state college in San Marcos, and then I commuted all over Riverside and San Bernardino County for work. Of course it was worth it and I wouldn't change a thing, but I do think all the driving takes a mental toll on people.

Game of Thrones Twitter. Look, I'm one of the only human beings on this planet that hasn't seen a single episode. Sometimes I have FOMO, but mostly I just don't get it. Don't @ me.

How was your April? Do you have any exciting plans for May? I'll be back on Friday!

  1. I think the lash slick is the only thing I really love from Glossier. I'm on my second tube. Friends from college is hilarious, GOT is my all time favorite show.

  2. I've watched a couple of season of GOT and lost interest. So I'm not exactly in the same boat as you, but similar. There's just so much buzz about it and I'm just like..."Oh. This again." LOL. The tram ride looks amazing! If we go back to Palm Springs/Desert we are definitely doing that.

  4. My partner and I went on a Californian road trip for his 30th birthday last summer. I wanted to surprise him with a trip on the aerial tram and dinner at the restaurant at the top but the tram was closed due to the arsonist. I was sooooo bummed!!
