I've walked by Jo Malone counters in higher-end department stores for years, but never felt worthy enough to stop and take a look. I always assumed that the price point was out of my range, and the sales girls looked intimidating to me. But now that I'm older, a bit more confident, and a self-proclaimed beauty enthusiast, I decided to let go of my misgivings and pop into Bloomingdales. I made a beeline for Jo Malone, and to my surprise, the SA was not only extremely kind and helpful but she also allowed me to test, spray, and basically annoy her with my questions and requests.

When I was in high school and even into my twenties, I gravitated towards sweet and fruity fragrances. You know, the kind that all your friends wore and that could be easily found at any department store counter. Usually it was celebrity endorsed (I'm talking Jessica Simpson and J Lo). I don't regret my choices back then because I didn't know what I was doing and I just bought what smelled good on other people. Needless to say, I cannot stand those scents now! Too sickly sweet and artificial smelling. I'm not a perfume snob, but I went into this purchase with the intention of smelling REAL. A scent that can be found in nature and not in a chemist's lab.

Wood Sage and Sea Salt was love at first whiff. And trust me, I smelled them all, coffee beans firmly against my nostrils after each test. This will come as a shock to no one who regularly reads here, but I LOVE the ocean and anything that reminds me of a day (or night) at the beach will instantly draw me in. The notes are fresh, light, but with a little musk. As quoted directly from the Jo Malone website, I feel this is the perfect description: "Escape the everyday along the windswept shore. Waves breaking white, the air fresh with sea salt and spray. Alive with the mineral scent of the rugged cliffs. Mingling with the woody earthiness of sage. Lively, spirited, and totally joyful." Damn. Well I couldn't have written it better myself, so there it is. This cologne in all its glory.

Notes: Sea salt, Ambrette seeds (whatever those are), sage, red algae, and grapefruit.

Price Point: 1 oz. for $65 dollars. A little steep yes, but worth it in my opinion especially considering the price of perfume in general these days. The larger bottles are $130. Yikes.

Lasting Power: I wouldn't say that it lasts a full day, but my trick is to spray my pulse points as well as my actual clothing so that you get the true scent. It fades rather nicely and settles very clean on my skin. Of course this will be different on everyone according to your body chemistry. Another thing I didn't realize when I was younger. However, I highly recommend this and will definitely be trying others from the line in the future. I'm hooked.

I've been working with Glo Professional and their skincare line, Glo Therapeutics for about two years. I was initially contacted by the company, and quickly fell in love with their mists, serum, and moisturizers. Although these products were kindly sent to me a few months ago, I can honestly attest to the quality of their brand and I would (and soon will) pay for my own products in a heartbeat. That's how much I love it! Let me also stress that I have used these products for a substantial period of time, so I've really been able to see the difference in my skin. It looks more radiant overall, and even though I've had a spell recently with eczema, my face has remained untouched and looks just as I want it to - glowing, moisturized, and more even.

I start by cleansing, and then apply the Cyto-luxe toning mist all over my face. I do this morning and night to boost my skin's brightness and provide a layer of fine moisture. It smells clean and natural, and I find that it's the most refreshing step in my skincare routine. It does feel slightly tingly, but the sensation fades within seconds of application. It's the perfect canvas for my next step.

I then apply the Cyto-luxe light moisture cream. It goes on smoothly and smells of citrus, just as the toning mist does! It isn't greasy, so it absorbs into the skin rather quickly. I have dry skin, but it still provides just the right amount of moisture. My skin feels immediately more supple and plump. I also think this product would be even better for people with oily or combination skin since it's so light.

The Cyto-luxe line is relatively new to Glo Therapeutics, but I love these products in conjunction with my other favorites from their regular line.

I use the renew serum every night. It has anti-aging properties including retinol, and I feel like it really has improved the tone and texture of my skin. The pure hydration almost feels like water! It is a gel-like consistency, and it goes on like a dream providing my skin with a good base for makeup. I'm almost out of both so I need to order more. Overall, I love that these products are plant based, but still contain beneficial ingredients like retinol and glycolic acid. There is something for everyone whether it be acne, anti-aging which is mostly my concern, sensitive skin, and dryness. I do sometimes like to go outside the brand to try other things, but these products are the basis of my routine and that won't change. As long as this brand exists, I will continue to use it.

If you have any questions, let me know in the comments!

I showed you some of my recent beauty purchases for the Summer in part 1, and now it's time to show you what else I've been picking up! Honestly, most of these are repurchases that you've already seen before. I get extremely confused when bloggers constantly rave about products and how they are "favorites" or "must-haves" or even the oddest of beauty blogger terms, the "holy grail". But then you never see or hear about them again, until the newest exciting thing comes along to replace the old! I want to prove that some things really are worth buying over and over because they are just that good.

1. Soap & Glory Flake Away - perfect body polish for exfoliating rough arms, legs, and decollete. It also happens to smell divine. The grains aren't too rough, just enough to slough off dry patches. I get mine at Ulta, but a little goes a long way so you get your money's worth.

2. Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge - I've been using sponges to apply my foundation for years now. I tried the beauty blender, but found that it was too stiff for my liking. These sponges by Real Techniques are soft and pliable so you can really maneuver around the planes of your face. I also like the shape of it. It covers plenty of area, but also has edges to get close to your eyes, and around your nose and mouth. I dampen it with some fix + by M.A.C. and then dot some of my favorite foundation over the places I need it most (cheeks and chin). It's also a fraction of the price of the beauty blender. Perfect!

3. Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser - I love this cleanser, and so does every single dermatologist I've ever spoken to. It's gentle enough for sensitive skin, but you also feel that you're getting a good deep clean minus harsh chemicals. I sometimes deviate to trying other cleansers, but I always end up coming back to this.

4. Lush Ro's Argan Body Conditioner - I really can't say enough about this product. It was love at first sniff, and then once I tried it in the shower, it was love at first touch! Or first shave! I use it liberally all over my body to add moisture while I'm in the shower. I then remove it by shaving! Yes, I shave the excess off and it acts as a cream. Two uses in one! If you love the scent of roses, then you must try this.

For a long time, I had been using Benefit cosmetics Powderflage. Remember that? It was a baby pink setting powder meant for the under eye area. I was literally devastated when they discontinued it. Not even being remotely dramatic either! Well a couple months back, maybe longer, I was in Sephora and on a whim I asked an SA if there was something similar. It took her a second to think, but she brought me this little pot of pure pink perfection and it's essentially the same color and consistency as powderflage. I use it to set my concealer and brighten up the inner corners of my eyes.

I bought these two products around the end of April before my sister-in-law's Vegas celebration. I knew there would be a ton of photos taken, and I wanted to up my game in the flash photo department. More than anything, I was curious about the line. I have to say, I'm really impressed by the powder! I've been using it religiously on days where Nate takes my outfit photos, and I do think that my skin looks more radiant. The concept being that the light blue hue brightens up the skin for a soft focus glow that translates beautifully on camera. The gloss is also really nice! Non-sticky and easy to wear because it's clear. I tend to want to layer mine over a lipstick, but I think it's probably best to just wear it alone. It has blue pigmented pearls that make your teeth appear whiter and brighter in flash photography. With everyone so obsessed with selfies and filters, I think these are worth trying. Not must-haves in comparison to other products mentioned above, but still a cool concept to play around with!

Milk Makeup X UO Urban Defense Face Mask

I need a break from sheet masks. I used up every last one I had, and then promptly freaked out because I like to do a mask one night per week. While making the daily rounds at Urban Outfitters in Oahu, I found this brand and in particular was drawn to this face mask. It has essential vitamins and jojoba oil, and it's the consistency of a gel. It feels so good while on the skin! I'm used to masks made from thick clay, so this is a nice change for the hot Summer months when I want something more refreshing. I've only used it a handful of times, but so far so good.

I have a few more beauty posts planned in the coming weeks so stay tuned if you enjoy this side of my blog. Happy Wednesday!

4.25.2016

As I previously mentioned in this post, I had been researching small crossbody and saddle bags for about three months now. I don't ever buy a bag on impulse, at least not anymore. I mull things over before making my decision. I usually try to see the bag in person so I can touch the leather, inspect the hardware, take note of its functionality, and try it on. This may sound like Type A to the extreme, but when it comes to dropping some cash on a bag, I'm anything but lazy. It's also a fun process! The thrill of the hunt can be even more exciting than the actual purchase.

Unfortunately, I didn't see this bag in person. I tried all of the higher end department stores like Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and Neiman Marcus but none at the South Coast Plaza location had this bag in stock so I gave it a whirl online during Shopbop's sale. $100 dollars off the retail price? Sold!

Here are my thoughts after carrying it four times:

Pros:
Although it's small, it's quite roomy! It has two compartements where you can store the essentials. It's not large enough for a regular wallet, but other than that, all of my other must-haves fit nicely. These include cell phone, cards, keys, some lip products, and a small pill case.

It has a pocket in the back for easy access to a phone.

The strap is adjustable, so it really will suit any height! A big plus for a petite girl like myself! You can adjust to wear it crossbody or as a shoulder bag.

It is THE perfect shade of blush (thistle is the name of the color). Not too pink, not too white. It almost has a slight lavender tone, which is beautiful! I can't get over the color, almost like ballerina slippers. It makes for a feminine appeal to an otherwise androgynous bag.

The leather is very smooth and supple.

Loeffler Randall isn't as common as other brands, which I actually prefer. I most likely will not see it on others in and around my area. Saddle bags are trending, but I have yet to see this particular bag on anyone.

Cons:
The leather is so soft, that I fear of wear and tear. I'm using a protectant to ensure that doesn't happen, or at least not quickly.

The snap closure of the bag is a bit cumbersome. You really have to press down on the hardware to get it to lock in place. Opening it is easy though, and it's not a hassle to get in and out of like my Chanel bag.

Overall, I am in love with this beauty and am even planning on another Loeffler purchase in the future. I think this brand has me hooked!

If you have any specific questions that I didn't cover, feel free to leave me a comment below! Thank you for reading!

When it comes to my hair, I have just a few goals:

1) Soften

2) Smooth

3) Tame static and flyaways

4) Keep my color a rich chocolate brown (almost black is my preference)

5) Pray to the hair Gods that it doesn't consistently look like crap

I'm not going to do a complete review of the products I've been using for at least a couple of months, but I will highlight why I will continue to re-purchase.

Living Proof Night Cap - This is an overnight hair mask that I use once per week and then rinse out in the morning. It imparts tons of softness and shine. This is just a large sample that I received as a Sephora perk, but I'm buying the full size once this is gone. Hey, we use masks to moisturize our skin, why not do the same for our hair? Genius.

Aveda Phomollient - I've tried many volumizers at the roots of my hair to add some lift, but most weighed down my fine hair. This is great because it's more of a liquid instead of a mousse. I pump some out into my hands and apply directly into my roots and onto my scalp, concentrating on the crown of my head.

Matrix Biolage Anti-Static Spray - I attract static like a balloon, especially when the weather is dry and windy. This is the only product I've found that really combats and prevents my hair from standing on end. Or, looking like I stuck my finger in a light socket! It's a God-send.

Aveda Dry Shampoo - I'm not a huge fan of dry shampoo. I usually wash my hair every third day, or three times per week. In between, I just let it do its thing. I was using a spray dry shampoo, but it didn't quite absorb all the extra oils. This is very similar to baby powder. It does leave a white residue, but if you rub it into your roots like crazy, I assure you it will disappear. I love the herbal scent as well. It's refreshing and very clean, and if you're familiar with Aveda then you know what I'm referring to. Also, a little goes a long way, so I feel like this product is giving me my money's worth.

I hope you enjoyed this hair product update. Otherwise, I'm using the same products I've already written about. If you have any must-haves that I need to try, please let me know! I love experimenting.

I'm not one to splurge on shower or bath products terribly often, but after reading the hype about this L'Occitane shower oil, I decided to leave my Aveeno on the drugstore shelf and give it a try. The good news is that I love everything about it - the light almond scent, the luxurious feel of it on my skin, and the moisture that it imparts even after my shower is done. The bad news is that I love everything about it! The lather isn't very strong, I presume because it's an oil, but it also isn't greasy like I feared it would be. I think all skin types would benefit from it. I like that this scent stays on my skin, and it's a gorgeous way to start or end your mornings and nights.

I tried First Aid Beauty last year when I bought an eye brightening cream from the line. I loved that product so much, that I decided to give their face cleanser a try after my Cetaphil ran out. Honestly, nothing beats a bottle of Cetaphil. It's great for all skin types, it cleanses without stripping your skin, it's easily accessible at any drugstore, and it's cheap! This is essentially the fancier version of that, meaning that it acts in a similar manner. Even my husband uses it (and that is very rare). I don't know if I'll continue buying simply because it's more expensive than Cetaphil and why pay more? But if you're in the market to try something new and don't mind paying a few dollars more, this works great.

We all have a love/hate relationship with Essie, right? I hear it all the time - great color range and pretty bottles, but the formula can be a giant pain to apply and work with. You don't always get what you see in the bottle, but I guess that spans across brands. I'm no novice to a good manicure. My mom was a manicurist while I was growing up, and I practically lived in the salon with her, occasionally painting older ladies toes. I love the look of well-groomed nails, even better if they are polished nicely. This color called Cabana Boy is part of Essie's "Retro Revival" collection, and to say that I'm in love with its pearly grey tone is an understatement. It does go on very sheer at first, but give it another coat and it quickly transforms into neutral mani perfection.

This obviously isn't a beauty product, but it sure is beautiful to look at (and smell). I have a serious candle obsession right now, and I can't for the life of me walk into Target without buying one. My favorite candle of all-time is called volcano by Capri Blue, and I swear that this smells extremely similar and is half the price. The scent is faint at first, but then fills up an entire room. I keep one on top of my bathroom counters, and I light them whenever I'm home. There's just something so warm and comforting about a lit candle. It instantly lifts my mood, and it makes me feel kind of glamorous too. Strange, but undeniably true.

What have you tried lately that you'd recommend to others? And by others, I mean me...

Over Christmas, Nate was sweet enough to get me a gift card to Sephora in my stocking. I was pleasantly surprised because I didn't drop any hints that I was wanting to splurge on some beauty items. He always does a great job, but we aren't the type of couple that gift each other with things. We like experiences instead, like planning a road trip or future vacation together. You know, memories instead of "stuff" that we frankly can buy on our own. However, I won't complain because I was able to get these and am so glad that I did.

First, this neutral eyeshadow palette by Tarte.

It's a neutral lovers dream! I own many shadows, including palettes by Urban Decay but for some reason, every single time I passed by this in store, I had to stop and stare. The quality is just beautiful - smooth, easy to blend, no fallout, and a great range from nude to black. I also appreciate that these are mostly matte, with three exceptions being funny girl, rocker, and firecracker. The palette is small and compact, making it perfect for those of us who don't want a bunch of clutter in our makeup drawers.

Next up is my reluctant answer to the Kylie Jenner lip. This cheek and lip pencil by Nudestix called Mystic is the perfect "my lips but better" shade. It adds that slight hint of mauve and brown, but is wearable enough. I was originally looking for Kat Von D's Lolita, but that has been consistently sold out in my Sephora so I decided to try this instead. It appears similar enough, maybe not quite as dark or dramatic. It does dry out my lips a bit, but if I use a balm underneath, it's perfect.

Have you ladies bought any makeup in the new year? Let me know if you have tried these!

1.08.2016

I mentioned in my last beauty post that I really struggle with dry, cracked skin. I think I might even have excema but have not been formally diagnosed by my doctor. It goes away once the weather gets warmer and more humid, part of the reason why I love going to the coast so often. By the water, I instantly feel relief from my allergies and dry skin. But, since we can't afford to move to the ocean, I have to be a little clever and trick my skin into believing that it's hydrated right here in the valley.

These are just a few new products that I've recently discovered over the last few weeks. I'd like to share them with you because so far, I'm loving the results.

First I'll begin with a product that was recommended to me by my snapchat and Instagram friends. They tagged me in a photo from Target:

My Target store didn't have the body butter, but they did have something similar:

I had never even seen this brand at Target before, and the line does appear to be limited, but this lotion is A-mazing! It really is so moisturizing. It also doesn't have much of a scent. I wouldn't say it's completely fragrance free, but it is very faint and so it's great to layer my favorite perfume over it. My legs get really itchy so I need something that will soothe the irritation while still providing a blanket of long-lasting moisture. It also absorbs rather quickly and doesn't feel greasy so I can get dressed right away. I slather this as soon as I get out of the shower, focusing on arms, hands, legs, and feet. The price point is great too at $14.99. It's natural and gentle for all skin types.

This was a total surprise from the hubby. We usually get each other chocolate, candy, and small amount gift cards in our stockings every Christmas, but I was shocked at what he came up with this time! In all honesty, I felt so guilty! I got him a Starbucks gift card, movie tickets, and candy. He got me some perfume, a Sephora gift card, and this primer water by Smashbox. He must have had help right?! He swears he picked this out on his own, but I'm not convinced. Either way, this stuff is the s@#!
I love setting sprays and misters, but this one takes the cake because it has many purposes that actually work! I use it to prime my face before makeup, and then I use it to set my makeup as well. The scent is beautiful, very soft but lovely. The spray nozzle is great too. Sometimes my MAC Fix + can squirt out like a hose, getting my face completely drenched. This spray is very fine and even. I will definitely purchase one for myself once this is gone.

These next two products were sent to me for consideration from a shop based out of Canada. The sweet email I received could not have come at a better time! Just as I was complaining to friends about my dry skin, I got an email from Batty's Bath (how cute is that name by the way). I was sent two products. The packaging is a selling point!

The first product is my favorite and most functional for my skin. This product is very thick, and comes in a stick form that you push up from the bottom. I have been carrying this in my bag for midday touch ups when my skin needs extra love. I have this annoying dry patch on my right pointer finger and it almost feels like elephant skin. Lovely, I know. But this is great for spot treating dry patches. I even use it on my nose because being sick the last month made the sides of it crack. It feels very soothing. The ingredients are cocoa seed butter, coconut oil, shea butter, sweet almond oil, sunflower, vitamin E, and avocado. It has a slight herbal scent, but it's barely detectable. I can see this working well on cuts, scars, and even mild burns. It's a great on-the-go balm when you don't want to carry a tube of lotion in your bag.

So it's been established that I love mists. They are great for cooling down in the hot Summer months, but I love them even more for hydration in the Winter. I can't say I love this more than the primer water above, but I do use this every night as a last blast of moisture before bed. I use it to set in my serums and eye cream. I love the scent! It reminds me of tea. I wouldn't say this would replace a regular moisturizer, but if you are craving an extra little something, then this is perfect for that. These ingredients are organic as well. They include aloe, German Chamomile, rose, vitamin B3. and provitamin B5. All very healthy, good for you elements that you can feel secure about putting on your precious skin.

If you have any questions, as always ask in the comments! I hope you'll give these all a try to alleviate dry skin.

Note: Batty's Bath sent me two products for review, but I was not compensated and all opinion are my own.

10.15.2015

I've collectively done a huge purge of my beauty arsenal over the last few weeks, and in doing so, I've realized there really isn't a single product in my collection now that I don't love. Some are just standing out more than others because they perform exceptionally well. Just like your closet, I feel like any woman should be able to reach into her vanity or shower and feel confident, happy, and most importantly, excited to get ready to look her best each day.

I've had all of these for awhile now, but have been saving them to mention in this post. As usual, if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask in the comments below. I could talk about beauty all day long.

There isn't a single negative thing I can say about either of these. I will never buy another lip balm again. I've found the holy grail. Not only does it smell amazing (a cross between floral and sweet), but it also stays put on my lips and moisturizes them all night while I sleep. I got the gloss in hopes it would be similar, and it really is. Moisturizing, smooth, and a sheer wearable pink. Forget wasting your money on other balms. Use them all up and get these instead.

I bought this because the regular HD foundation has been my favorite for two years. I was afraid that once it was discontinued and replaced, maybe this formula would be different. I'm not good with change! I would say that it is different, but ever so slightly. It feels smoother, and possibly a bit thinner in its formulation. The effect is beautiful on camera, just as the original. You end up looking  almost airbrushed. I use a damp sponge to apply it, and I use very little.

I used this eye cream when I first began blogging, but then switched to Origins because it was accessible whereas Kiehl's is not in my area. I don't know how I went without it for so long. It's heaven in the form of a little pot of light green goodness. What else can I say? If you're craving heavy duty moisture underneath your eyes, this is IT.

I've struggled with thin eyebrows for years, and I think I've written about that at length before. All you need to know young ladies: DO NOT OVER TWEEZE. Just don't do it. Go to a professional for your first time, and then just perform simple maintenance from there after. I've used pencil, powders, and gels to fill in sparse areas but nothing has worked quite like this product. I bought it after a Sephora salesgirl cornered me, wanting to mess with my brows. Although I felt accosted at first, I ended up writing her a thank-you note! This product does not budge, is easy to apply with an angled brush, and looks natural. Did I mention it doesn't budge?

The cleansing cream shampoo was a birthday gift from my SIL. She is a hairstylist and always introduces me to new (or new to me at least) hair products. This acts as a clarifying shampoo, so I use it only once per week. It definitely leaves my hair feeling squeaky clean, and I don't feel residue left behind like I do with my regular shampoo. I notice that other products I use to style my hair work more effectively after using this to wash it.

The flake away scrub was purchased on a whim, but I needed a new exfoliator to replace my LUSH ocean salt, since I don't have easy access to that either. Love this stuff! It's not harsh at all, has a soft scent, and leaves my skin feeling extra soft. I use this in the shower or tub about once per week as well. I use it mostly on my legs and arms.

I hope you enjoyed these mini reviews! What are your current stand-out products?

3.19.2015

I've picked up a few beauty products in anticipation of Spring. Not that we have seasons here, and not like I really need an excuse to shop for cosmetics but that's what I like to tell myself anyway. Being that I'm a lip junkie, three of my new goodies are products I can slap on my pucker.

This is also referred to as "one luxe balm" and that is an accurate description! I first heard about it a few months ago on a beauty blog, and made a mental note that I wanted to try it. While scrolling through Nordstrom's website, I stumbled across it and knew I had to make my purchase. I've been wearing it ever since receiving it in the mail. It literally melts on the lips and saturates every little dry patch. It smells slightly floral and slightly sweet, but I can't put my finger on the exact note. Whatever it is, it smells rich as obnoxious as that sounds. I will never be without it now. By far the most beautiful product I own.

I'm not much of a lip gloss fan these days, as I prefer wearing lipstick. It seems to last longer, and my hair never gets caught in it. I bought this on a whim while at Ulta, and this is probably the closest I'll come to a gloss. It's non-sticky and moisturizing, and the coral color gives me naturally "juicy" looking lips almost like I've just eaten a popsicle. The wand is wide and flat, so it covers a good amount of my lips in just one swipe. It's also a small tube, which I appreciate because I know I can actually get through it before the product goes bad. I'm tempted to try it in another bright shade.

I'm also not a huge fan of lip liner either, but I decided to give this one a try after seeing it on a YouTuber. Urban Decay is probably my favorite makeup brand, and if I ever want to experiment, I usually look to them first. "Native" is a neutral pink lip liner that is a great base for any lipstick you put on top. It's one of those "my lips, but better" shades. As you can see, I need to sharpen it again because I've been using it daily. I not only line my lips with it, but I also fill them in and then put either the lip slip or the lip lover on top for a great everyday look.

Now a couple of non-lip products:

I love Real Techniques. The brushes are affordable, well-made, and carefully thought out. The Bold Metals collection is a bit more expensive, but this brush in particular is so worth it! It can be used to apply a variety of powders, but I've been using it to apply blush. The shape is perfect for sweeping color across my cheeks. The bristles are ultra soft, and the handle is nice and sturdy.

This was also in my Nordstrom order along with the lip slip. I have very mixed feelings about this nail polish. The color is a beautiful whitish - pink, a shade I think many women love because it goes with everything and doesn't show wear as noticeably as bright colors. However, I was disappointed with the actual formula. It was a bit clumpy, and although it only required two coats to look opaque, it chipped within a few hours. I can't justify the price either. I linked it above, but I don't exactly recommend it. Try Essie's "Urban Jungle" instead and save your money.

2.16.2015

It's been quite some time since I've delved into a beauty brand that I've never tried before. I used to run the gamut with products, but after graduating college, I stopped experimenting as much with buying copious amounts of makeup. Good for my wallet, but bad for the beauty portion of my blog! As I've stated before, I miss trying, testing, and playing. It's fun! So when Glo Minerals reached out to me about a review opportunity of two of their products, I jumped at the chance. I've heard of the brand before, and wanted to see for myself what the company is all about. Please note that although these products were sent to me for review, all thoughts and opinions are my own and I am not getting compensated in doing so. I wore both the shadows and the moisturizing tint for two weeks so that I could get a good idea of how they responded to my sensitive skin, and to see how they would wear throughout the day (and night).

Here is a brief overview of Glo Minerals: It is great for sensitive skin, because it is talc free and non-comedogenic. Their mineral makeup is designed to cover, correct, and protect. Their products are triple milled to ensure coverage that lasts. It is also infused with vitamins including green tea that act as anti-inflammatories. As I read this, I thought great! Sounds good to me.

Here are the products they sent to me, plus a gorgeous wine colored lipstick as a sweet gift. All photos were taken outside on my balcony, with natural light and no flash. What you see is what you get!

The tint comes in four colors - fair, light, medium, and dark. I have never been a fan of tinted moisturizers because I have areas of discoloration on my cheeks, nose, and chin. I typically like a medium coverage foundation to keep the discoloration at bay. However, this tinted moisturizer is amazing! You can wear it alone or underneath your regular foundation, so I tried it both ways. The best way it works for me is to layer it with my regular HD foundation. You really get a dual effect. You get sun protection which is so important, especially when you live in a warm climate like I do, and you also get the advantage of being able to use the foundation of your liking. I found that I didn't need to use my regular moisturizer. This provided a smooth, even canvas for great application. There is no real scent of sunscreen either, and the tint suited my light skin perfectly. I have a feeling this is going to be my Spring and Summer staple! It's the stand-out product out of the two that were sent to me, and I absolutely recommend it.

This little quad contains four beautiful, universal shades that go from day to night. I love the top right and bottom left shades the most, as they make for beautiful all-over lid colors. The back of this little kit has a guide I.E. base, lid, crease, and liner but I didn't use them that way. They do have shimmer to them, but once applied on the eyes, the shimmer isn't as noticeable. The pigmentation is great, and I would easily compare these to other brands found at department stores. I did use my own base as a primer to ensure lasting effects, but I do this with all of my eye makeup. These lasted during an eight hour workday with no creasing.

Here I am wearing the smoky eye kit and the moisturizing tint, all in natural daylight with no filter/photoshop.

I did want to quickly mention the lipstick in aubergine because it is a gorgeous wine color and the formula is super creamy and rich. If you're on the hunt for a great Fall/Winter shade then look no further. I forgot to photograph with it on, but I will in the future!

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and wear of these products. I had no expectations, and can genuinely say wholeheartedly that I am impressed and would buy any of these products on my own, with my money. I don't do reviews often, and I hope you'll trust me when I say that this is a great brand. Glo Minerals gave me a 15% off coupon code of your entire purchase using BEAUTYGIRL24. Give them a try (especially the moisturizing tint) and let me know what you think. A big thank you to Amy for reaching out to me.

Real Life

There's no single shopping experience that satisfies my little heart more than a handbag. I can't even explain why. You put stuff into it, and carry it on your arm or shoulder. Um, okay. I do however understand that I am interested in quality over quantity. I'd rather have beautiful staples that I will carry for years to come instead of a giant collection. If I'm going to drop any amount of money on one, it's a well-thought out and researched purchase. I usually think about it for months before taking the plunge.

This bag was no different. Over the Summer, I was thinking about getting either a shoulder bag or a tote but I also couldn't decide on the color. Red? Cognac? Hunter green? I really couldn't make up my mind until I saw this Rebecca Minkoff tote in "Fatigue". In trying to review the M.A.B, I decided to create a list of pros and cons. Let's start with the

Pros:
1) It's the medium size, which I think is perfect for someone my height (5'2). I think the large would be too overwhelming for me.

2) The color. It's the perfect shade of tan, which also means it goes with absolutely everything. It comes in a multitude of gorgeous colors though!

3) The hardware is durable. The saffiano leather is the same as my Micheal Kors Selma satchel, so it's practically impossible to destruct. It has little metal feet on the bottom, which I think is such a great touch. I can see it keeping its shape and structure throughout time. The handles are also very sturdy.

Cons:
1) The handles are a little too stiff and sturdy, if that makes sense. They feel a bit rigid when worn on the shoulder, so I feel more comfortable carrying the bag on my arm.

2) I really wish it had a crossbody strap for convenience. It's not a shopping bag, let's just put it that way. Great for work, and also as a weekender if you crave the polished look like I normally do.

Overall, I would recommend it and am happy with my Winter purchase. I can easily see myself carrying it through Spring and Summer as well.

If you have any specific questions, let me know in the comments below!

Oh, and happy New Years! This is my last post of the year, and it feels surreal! Have a great night and be safe :)

10.23.2014

I've been keeping some beauty products a secret from you guys because I wanted to do a collective post about them. I've recently acquired some wonderful things that have not only enhanced my appearance, but have also saved me some time in my beauty routine.

I wish this had come out years ago, because I'm almost certain it would have prevented me from investing in some so-so eyeshadows and palettes. You ladies know I'm a neutral girl when it comes to playing up my peepers, and these six shades are perfect! Not too warm, not too cool. Neutral is truly the best description, and I recommend it to every skin tone, eye color, and level of experience with makeup. There isn't a single shade, even the darkest brown, that I haven't used. In fact, I have worn it consistently for the past three weeks. I used it for my friend's wedding as well.

I don't know why my hands are so awfully dry and cracked, but I know my new puppy has a lot to do with it. I'm constantly cleaning up after her which means washing my hands like a nutcase. As most of you know, I also work with children so there really is no such thing as excessive hand-washing! While out with my best friend last week for dinner, we popped into Sephora and I bought this cream on impulse while in the check-out line. Good call. This lightly scented cream is working wonders on my desert hands.

The three things that this eye treatment promises include brightening, depuffing, and smoothing. It delivers all three. For reference, I'm 30 years old and although I don't have wrinkles or fine lines just yet, my eye area is a bit dark and tired looking most days. I like to put this on over my regular moisturizer in the morning, but underneath my foundation and concealer. The light pink-peach shade is great for brightening, while the metal applicator is cooling and soothing for tired, puffy eyes.

This is my third bottle, if that gives you any idea of how much I love it. My hair is fine, but I have a ton of it. Foaming volumizers weigh it down, but this liquid spray is the solution for that. Sheer, subtle volume that keeps my roots from falling too flat. In conjunction with the Oribe dry texture spray, my hair has been much happier these days (no easy feat). I also find that I can go an extra day without washing my hair, typically on every third day.

And two very recent buys I have yet to play with...
This purchase is solely because of Lorraine's recent YouTube videos where she raves about Marc Jacob's limited edition nail polish, "Midnight in Paris". It's an inky blue, reportedly inspired by the night sky in Paris. Here, the color looks black, but I can assure you there's a distinct blue to it.

The sheer red lipstick is by Dior, and it's called "New Look". They both looked beautiful on her, and although I don't even slightly resemble Lorraine, I definitely feel that they are wearable for most people. I'll keep you posted :)

6.13.2014

I haven't shown you girls what makeup products I've been loving lately, so I thought I'd go ahead and share today. Most are new, with a good basic staple in the mix. I've been experiencing a resurgence in wanting to buy more makeup and I really think I have Instagram to blame. All of you beauty junkies are setting me back to my old ways!

Untitled #6

1) Make Up For Ever HD Foundation - I'm in the color soft sand, or 120. It's funny because it really took me a long time to warm up to this stuff. I bought it last year for my wedding, but my makeup artist Raeleen used a special airbrush foundation instead. But after the pressure of wedding makeup wore off, I really started enjoying this foundation and now I'm addicted. I just finished buying my third bottle! It's perfect for bloggers because it's meant for photography, so you never have to worry about the dreadful ghost look. I wear it all the time though, not just for pictures. It's sheer but buildable, and it always looks natural. Think your skin but ten times better!

2)  Benefit Lip Tint Lip Balm - I have mine in the color Posie, a candied pink (pictured is a red hue). I bought this a few weeks back on a whim while browsing. It's very similar to Fresh's lip treatment if you're familiar with that. It's buttery smooth with actual color. Sheer of course, but still noticeable on my lips. Worn here.

3) L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara - I plan on dedicating an entire post about this, but let's just say it's all I've been wearing. I normally don't have good luck with mascara. I'm loyal to Benefit They're Real and Cover Girl's Lash Blast. Sadly, I'm cheating on them with Miss Manga. If you like soft volume and lots of length, you have to try this! Psst, the bonus is that it's cheap.

4) Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Mushroom - I know many of you already swear by these liners, but do you have the shade mushroom? If not, you should try it! I love how neutral it is. Not as severe looking as black, but a little more pumped up than your basic brown or grey. I love the taupe color on my brown eyes, as it seems to bring out the gold tones in them. I think it would look beautiful (and natural) on just about anyone. It looks great with next-to-nothing makeup, but also pretty with a smokey look too.

5) M.A.C cosmetics Alluring Aquatics blush in Seduced at Sea - I hope those of you that really wanted this blush were able to get it! I'm not sure if it's even available anymore, but the link I posted should work. I honestly don't pay much attention to their collections anymore. Too hard to keep up with! This caught my eye because of the cute packaging. There, I admit it. But it really is a lovely rose bronze shade. If you want something similar, try Benefit Rockateur. I own both and they are very similar on the skin. Perfect for that Summer glow.

6) Jergens BB Body Cream - The commercial sold me. "BB Goes Body!" I know it's a lame reason to run to Target and buy a tube, but such is the life of a blogger. It happens. Good thing too, because I'm almost down to the end of it and my overall impression is that I love this stuff. The smell is pretty, which is rare for Jergens. Those self-tan creams to mind. This smells nothing like those, it's very soft and feminine. Does it perfect my skin like it claims? I really think it does! My skin definitely looks more even, and it imparts a natural looking glow as soon as it's applied. I may not like BB creams for my face (those have been a big fail for me) but I'll happily use them on my arms and legs.

7) Oribe hair products: Dry Texturizing Spray and Hair Refresher - God, where do I even begin with these? Well I'll tell you how they came to be in my possession. I'm jealous of those of you ladies who have access to blow dry bars. We have nothing like that in my town. Nothing even close, until I found Anastasia. She used to work with my sister-in-law at a salon right by my house, and now she has her own salon. She does the best blow-outs! While treating myself to one a couple months back, I discovered she also sells the highly coveted Oribe brand, and I decided to give the dry texturizing spray and the refresher a go. Well, the rest is history. These are hands-down some of the best hair care products I've tried. Volume and sexy smelling hair abound. I'm happy and husband is happy.

All of these products were used in my Pleats & Picnics post here if you want to take a look :)

Congratulations if you were able to get through this list without nodding off. Happy Friday!
