Oh hey guys! I'm sorry I was M.I.A. last week but I didn't have much to say! I used to beat myself up over lack of posting but I'd rather only do so when I'm actually in the mood. And let me tell you, I'm definitely in the mood after having such a beautiful weekend. It truly felt like Spring...nicest weather so far this year. I'm also thoroughly enjoying the time change.

Nate and I did quite the running around. We drove up to Los Angeles on Saturday to visit my dad's side of the family and it was lovely. Sunday we celebrated a friend's birthday brunch on the Queen Mary in Long Beach. I wore this pretty floral blouse on BOTH days...no judgment okay?! The unexpected warm-up threw me off in the best way possible. It was a perfect 80 degrees and sunny, zero clouds in sight. What better way to transition into Spring than by wearing something floral? The little red flowers and ruffled sleeves looked great with my lighter wash jeans and wedge espadrilles. I ordered them during the Shopbop sale and absolutely love them. Here's hoping for more sunny days ahead!

Is it feeling like Spring yet where you live?

Like most people, I find the transition from Winter into Spring a little bit frustrating. You know it's just around the corner, but it's still too early to break out the bathing suits (unless you're lucky enough to go on vacation somewhere warm). With all of the rain and gloom this year, what can I do but simply appreciate California's break from the usual dryness and heat? I'm embracing it, because I know it won't last forever.

With that being said, this type of outfit is one I've been doing a lot lately for nighttime. Last Saturday we went to San Diego and this suede moto jacket from Blank NYC kept me nice and warm! It's pretty heavy, so I've struggled at times with finding practical ways to style it.  However, a chilly February presented me with plenty of opportunities and now I'm currently keeping it by the front door so I can throw it on and go. Paired with my favorite denim and new leopard cami, it's the perfect topper for a chic "night on the town."

What do you wear for a Winter night out?

“Create the content you want to see on the Internet”

I read that quote while browsing Twitter at the beginning of the month, and it perfectly sums up my general feeling towards blogging and social media at the moment. Do things seem monotonous to you? Sometimes when I'm scrolling through the LIKEtoKNOW.it app, I feel like I'm seeing the same content over and over again. Not that I'm any more creative, because I struggle in this area too! But I do wish for a little more variety.

Anyway, I wrote that quote on a sticky note and it's hanging off the top of my computer now. Maybe it will spark something special one of these days.

The February Edit:

I picked up this rose water facial toner from Trader Joe's and I've been using it everyday. If you love the smell of roses, you'll want to try this. I believe it was under $5 and great for a midday skin refresh.

This Vasanti Brighten Up! exfoliating cleanser is amazing! I got a smaller size last year in my Fab Fit Fun box and enjoyed it so much that I bought the regular size from Amazon. I use it twice a week in place of my regular cleanser and it's great for dull Winter skin. I concentrate it on my chin, the home of cystic acne. I *may* even prefer it over my beloved ExfoliKate! Although that product is more of a treatment whereas this is a cleanser.

Things I loved in February:
Nate and I took his parents to SuperCross during a storm and the torrential downpour made for some laughs.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills started another season. I'm a Bravo t.v. junkie (Top Chef and Below Deck have been entertaining as well). I mostly love seeing what all the ladies are wearing.

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's performance of "Shallow" at the Oscars.

Celebrating Katie's mom's milestone birthday over the weekend. I won't give the number away though. I loved catching up with her family, especially her older sister. Friends are the family you choose.

Coincidentally, I'm going to include this brilliantly written blog post that I came across just last night before publishing this. It's all about the author's thoughts on the current state of bloggers and influencers, and it is spot on.

Things I didn't love in February:
Unexpected unforeseeable events like concussions at work and torrential downpours at sporting events.

The realization that after booking a weekend away in Palm Springs, I need to go bathing suit shopping STAT.

It's nearly March, and unlike previous years where I've gone about shopping in a much more haphazard way, this time I can actually count on one hand how many new items I've purchased so far in 2019. I've been pretty disciplined, but that's not to say that I've stopped wanting - in fact, I have a few things on my Spring wishlist I'd like to share, but I plan on doing a bigger post rounding up all of my Spring Break favorites. Nate and I have a weekend in Palm Springs planned in a few weeks; I'm very, very excited!

For now, I'm bundling up because the rain has been non-stop (I'm listening to it now outside my window). Here is what I've added to my wardrobe since the new year began:

Leopard is a neutral, but it's making the rounds as a current trendy print and I wanted in on it. This cami has a scalloped neckline and adjustable straps. It runs true to size and comes in multiple colors and prints. It'll serve as a great transitional piece to wear underneath jackets and cardigans.

I featured this coat in my last post, but didn't elaborate. Due to the big chill and rain, I've needed something more substantial to wear this month, and this coat from Old Navy fit the bill. It's a true white with some black speckling, and I ordered it in my usual medium petite. I love everything about it, especially the price!

Pullover sweaters will always be my go-to for Fall and Winter, and this one grabbed my attention because of the color. I'm sure you remember it from this post. It fits true to size.

I've been a huge fan of Gorjana jewelry since my early days of blogging and have several of her rings and necklaces. Her pieces are beautifully delicate, easy to wear, and are meant to be layered. I bought the mini Chloe necklace to layer with the sunburst coin necklace I've worn nearly every day for the last few months.

This Tarte palette should look familiar - it's my second In Bloom eyeshadow palette. Why? Because I accidentally left the first one behind on vacation, and now I'm truly convinced this is the only eyeshadow I need in my collection.

I wanted to say thank you for the sweet comments this week ladies. Nate is back at work and feeling much better! Have a great weekend and I'll see you back here next week!
