I've always loved the 1950's. I still religiously watch re-runs of "I Love Lucy" and not so secretly can mouth the lines of practically every single episode. When mid-length or midi skirts started popping up everywhere, it instantly reminded me of that time period. I wanted to get in on the trend, but let's face it: at 5 foot 2 inches, they aren't exactly flattering on me. I resisted, telling myself that I would look absolutely ridiculous in one. Then the Express skirt came out, and after reading Courtney's take on it, I decided to just go for it. See, fashion isn't always about how something makes you look. Rather, sometimes it's about how something makes you feel. And this twirly, insanely voluminous skirt, perhaps too much for my petite frame - makes me feel fabulous. Isn't that the whole point?
Quick note ladies: I was featured yesterday on a great website called Pumps and Push Ups. I had a wonderful experience working with Brooke, and I would love for you to read the interview!

This is such a pretty look! I wish I could pull off a midi skirt.
ReplyDeleteThank you ladies! Now I want one in a lighter color ;) We shall see!
ReplyDeleteThat's such an awesome way to look at things! I totally agree sometimes fashion should be about how something makes you feel :) ps you look awesome!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much :) We should all just wear what makes us happy!
DeleteI love midi skirts too! Love your look, so pretty :)
ReplyDeleteLoved your interview, pretty girl! And I love how adventurous you are - you try a lot of new styles - yet you really make them work with your own look - and the result is always gorgeous! This midi skirt outfit reminds me of something Audrey Hepburn would have worn - so classic & chic!
ReplyDeleteLove your classic outfit today and I really enjoyed your interview! I so agree about dressing for yourself. I'm too "old" to wear a lot of things I wear according to the rules, but TOO BAD, I like them! Ha. :) Also fun to hear your thoughts on why you started a blog and what you like about it then vs. now!

I love this look too but because I'm the same height as you I automatically cancelled it out in my mind BUT now I see how flawlessly you have pulled it off here and I'm rethinking it all. You look great and omg I love that bag- such a pretty color!
ReplyDeleteOh man, you're *really* going to make me try the full midi skirt, aren't you?! You are rocking this and we are the same height. I think it works well on you - and you know I love that bag!

That skirt looks amazing on your petite frame! You are the height I wish I was. I'm 5'4" but 5'2" has always been my ideal height. I guess I'll have to wait until I'm old and hunched over to be my ideal height. Something to look forward to as I age. lol. Anyways, back to your outfit...Fabulous! It makes me want to buy lots of midi skirts!

I love midi skirts! I think the key is finding the one that hits you truly at the midi point. Otherwise they chop you into weird segments I think. You did this perfectly!
