"You'll need coffee shops and sunsets and road trips. Airplanes and passports and new songs and old songs, but people more than anything else. You will need other people, and you will need to be that other person to someone else. A living breathing screaming invitation to believe better things."
~The Minds Journal

June is a wonderful month, punctuated by the official beginning of Summer. I always revel in this time, where the sunlight lasts longer and the pace of life slows, if only for a few short weeks.

It was a pretty uneventful month around here, but the weekends were so relaxing that I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. Here are some highlights:

Dining al fresco at Robert Renzoni Winery in Temecula. They recently started offering dinner service on Friday and Saturday evenings, up until 8:00. It was a beautiful way to eat a hearty Italian meal! I recommend the lobster ravioli. Also their red wines are the best in town.
We were the last couple there after they closed...oops! Too busy eating a slice of their lemoncello cake OMG

Making egg salad sandwiches for lunch. I hard boil some eggs, peel them, and smash them with a fork. I then add a small amount of mayo and mustard, followed by salt, pepper, and a little cayenne for kick. Add some fresh arugula to whatever bread you like, top with a generous amount of the egg salad and voila. It's easy and so delicious.

Wearing both pairs of espadrilles non-stop. June gloom was definitely present most days, so I opted for closed toe shoes that still looked Summer-ready.

Watching one of the scariest movies I've ever seen! I'm probably alone in this, but I love horror films. One of Nate's old roommates came down from L.A. to visit us, and both he and his girlfriend are actors. I asked them for movie recommendations and they suggested one called Hereditary. It is creepy! I watched with one eye shut. Very good though if you're in the mood for a scare ;)

Excited for this road trip I'm currently on (hopefully it's going well), the 4th of July in Wyoming, and going back to Ohio the last weekend of July to visit Nate's extended family.

Things I Liked In June:

1) I got my Summer FabFitFun box and it was so good! I've been a subscriber for a couple years, and I swear each quarterly box gets better and better. I've discovered so many great products like the Brighten Up! exfoliating cleanser and Oribe dry shampoo.

2) As I mentioned briefly, we had a friend visit us that we hadn't seen in ages and it felt like old times. The weather was perfect that night, and we spent hours sitting in the backyard talking and laughing.

3) I enjoyed seeing all the Pride month posts on social media. We've come a long way, but still have further to go.

Things I Didn't Like In June:

1) All of the gloomy, cold, cloudy weather! I normally try to avoid the constant complaining about weather because well, it's weather. But I'm happy to report that it is a sunny 75 degrees as I type this :)

Happy 1st day of July! I'll be back next week after my trip but have a happy and safe 4th!

  1. I have to check out that movie, it sounds so good. I've been dying to try Oribe but their stuff are so expensive.

  2. Oh that's nice that Robert Renzoni started serving dinner! What a great way to spend summer nights. It sure looks like you are having a great time on your road trip - or at least you are seeing some truly amazing sighgs!
