Before I get into the awesomeness that was Memorial Day weekend, let me first preface this by admitting that photographing myself in a bathing suit scared the living daylights out of me. Yes, even with a pretty white cover-up that is only slightly sheer, I was still nervous about posting this. Even after hubby reassured me a hundred times that it was "cute" and "no big deal", I still worried. I'm type A, that's what I do. Hopefully everyone can overlook my awkward intro because I really did wear this exact look yesterday and I loved it! I spied this Old Navy bathing beauty on Instagram and literally dropped everything I was doing to go grab one for myself. I love it (and recommend it) for several reasons: It's oversized, and therefore very comfortable for the poolside or beach. It's white, although I did see it in teal as well. It has the cutest little pom poms. It also was very inexpensive :) Gotta love Old Navy. They have been killing it lately!

Oh and the weekend was awesome as I previously stated. It was a bit gloomy in the mornings, but otherwise very pretty weather. I went to some local wineries for my friend's belated birthday celebration. I go to our wineries too often, I'm thinking people are starting to wonder. I just so happen to enjoy wine. And, hubby and I are wine club members at Miramonte, so it's very convenient (read: cheap). We also did a lot of lounging at home, followed by pool time.

How was your weekend?

Good morning pretty girls, I hope you are all having a wonderful long weekend filled with the three F's - food, friends, and of course fashion! Summer is right around the corner and I'm finally starting to get into that carefree mode (although we've been having some gloomy weather this week). This linen slouchy t-shirt from Zara helps quite a bit, with its grid print and coral flowers. It reminds me of Hawaii and it's probably the closest I'll get to it for a long while. I decided to dust off my beloved Chanel for a casual but glam contrast.

This sweater is neon. It looks more muted and more peachy in pictures, but don't let this lead you into thinking it's a demure sweater. I remember staring at it when it first arrived on my doorstep and I had no clue how I was going to style it! I think sticking to nudes is the way to go for the color-shy. Throw in some hot pink for good measure and you've got a fun look for...well, basically anything!

Happy Wednesday ladies.

When I'm feeling a little confused about what to wear, I like to check Pinterest. I'm sure all of you do too! But another thing I like to do is go back to old blog posts. I think last Spring was probably my favorite season fashion-wise. I was planning my wedding and getting ready to be my best friend's maid of honor. One of my bridesmaids gave birth for the first time...to twin boys! We had just moved into this condo after living with roommates and it felt so validating to have our own little space in the world. I think I was just beginning to come into my own, and my style reflected the utter joy, excitement, and happiness I was feeling at that time. Because I still have all of these pieces in my closet, I'm going to wear them again. Perhaps as they are pictured here but maybe not. I don't want to get repetitive for you guys and have you thinking, "hey haven't I seen that exact look before?" The trials and tribulations of a blogger.

P.S. - I love my short hair, but looking at these photos makes me miss my longer locks. How easy it is to forget what a pain in the ass it was to maintain and keep looking shiny and healthy. I think I'll keep my hair short until my 30th birthday on September 12th. Then I'll grow it out just to keep things interesting!

Here's another happy purchase from Topshop. I'm telling you ladies, that place was brimming with flirty skirts in all sorts of different lengths and colors. I think I probably tried on at least a dozen! Crop tops were in every corner as well, but those didn't look as enticing. As much as I love the look on others, I can't bring myself to ever show my midriff again, unless I'm at the beach. I wore them quite a bit in high school, you know, before modesty set in and before my six pack disappeared along with my teenage angst. I do think this is a more comfortable way to wear one, a loose fitting t-shirt version paired with a high waist skirt. It's definitely a crop top, but because I'm not actually showing any skin, it gives the illusion of a regular length top. The lace material also keeps it softer and more feminine. Just a simple trick for any of you that are also afraid of the trend ;)

It seems I've fallen head over heels in love with the midi skirt. This infatuation surprises me the most because I never imagined that this neither-here-nor-there length would suit my petite frame. I'm still not entirely convinced that it's the most flattering silhouette on me, but like a broken record, this powder blue Topshop beauty will remain on repeat all Spring and Summer long. I think I have Laura to blame! She's been rocking the midi skirt in various colors on her blog, and I can't help but envy each one. Her style is pretty much perfect.

I hope you all had a beautiful Mother's Day!
